17-year-old Annie Lane wakes up murdered and would like some revenge, you a-holes.
I thought Annie was a really strong character and the “rules” of her undead-ness were pretty interesting. I loved the Resurrection Peak/Chapel House stuff - just enough explanation but leaving a reasonable amount to the imagination. I loved Morgan going by “Gun,” lol. For the first 20% or so it seemed like we were rehashing Jennifer’s Body, but eventually veered in another direction. Also the diner-job, cop-dad and small-town-teenager elements echoed Ask For Andrea, though the tone here is much more lighthearted/dark humor. I guess when you read a lot of books in certain genres, the tropes and elements become overly familiar, so that’s on me.
There was at least one loose end that disappointed me, and I’m not 100% sold on the ultimate motive for Annie’s murder, but overall an enjoyable read.

This was a fun one. I was trying to find something a little bit tamer to listen to on a long drive with my daughter in the car. While some people find this book a little advanced for kids under 16, I don't really censor my daughter, so that wasn't an issue for me.
Annie is a force to be reckoned with. And kudos to her for experiencing her death repeatedly even though she doesn't know she was murdered. Because I would freak the hell out. This story had a fun premise, interesting characters, and a twist I didn't see coming.
I really enjoyed it, and would recommend it for anyone looking for a good time in a thriller setting.

Was a bit frustrating that she seemed so oblivious to everything, the story dragged and didn't catch me, which is sad because I'm all for teenage rage and revenge!
This book started out slow and kind of confusing. I wish the explanation on how ghosts work in this world came earlier on in the book. However, I enjoyed the mystery of this book and did not guess who the killer was! I really enjoyed the ending.

I am such a sucker for revenge stories and this one was so good. I love how they made the main character complex. She is not always good, makes a lot of mistakes, and is a bit of a mess. But, as the author argues, she did not deserve what happened. It was also fun reading about how she got her revenge.
