"I am hard on myself. But isn’t it better to be honest about these things before someone else can use them against you? Before someone else can break your heart? Isn’t it better to break it yourself?"

I will always love Stephanie Perkins. Always. Her romances have a way of keeping that glossy, picturesque YA feel while also writing raw characters. It's a rare talent.

I loved how sweet Isla was, while also being intelligent and resilient. I adored Josh, and as someone who lives near Washington DC, can attest he was an accurate representation of the politician's son. I also found Kurt and his blunt honesty to be precious. (A+ for ASD rep!)

I found this one lacking a bit of the author's typical all-consuming charm, but not enough to knock it a rating. Not Stephanie Perkins' best, but still better than most YA romances.

I enjoyed Isla very much although it wasn't as good as the previous two books in my opinion. My favorite will forever be Anna. It was nice being back in Paris, where this trilogy initially started but it didn't feel as magical as it felt in Anna. I also think Josh fell for Isla rather quickly.

All in all a beuatiful end to the trilogy. I enjoyed the scene where they all come together the most out of this entire book.

4.99 stars.
The characters are SO relatable, I don't even know. Their hopes, insecurities, just all of it. I loved them together, and the trip to Barcelona -I knew that something bad was going to happen, but I really just wanted to savor those beautiful moments.. When we met, Anna, Lola, and everybody else, I actually squealed, because GOSH. SO HAPPY. So sad that this series-companion thing is ending, but I'm also excited for more of Stephanie Perkins :)

I think this was the one of the three I liked best.

Isla is pronounced as island without nd, not is-la. Most of people called her Is-la but Josh knows her name properly.. it amazed her, because she had a crush forever on josh...
Josh just broke up with Rashmi, and he realized he didnt love her that much. So does Rashmi. Josh started knowing that Isla was flirting with him, but he confused because he thought that Isla has already had a boyfriend, Kurt who always around Isla... but he was wrong, because Kurt and Isla have been bestfriens since their babyhood.

Well, i love this story as much as Anna and The French Kiss. The ending is as sweet as the book title:)

Why are there so many bad reviews for this book? I am so glad that I did not see them before reading it. I thought it was perfection. Absolute perfection. I cannot get over how much I loved this book. I think I might have liked it as much as the first. It had the same vibe and the same adorable yet just steamy enough romance that I was NOT expecting from a YA book. Especially not these YA books. For YEARS I have wanted to read this series but also looked down on it as well. I thought it would be too YA, too high school drama. But it wasn't. It was such a perfect series of love stories. And this last book wrapped it up so well.
I LOVE that we got to see St. Clair propose to Anna in Paris. I LOVE that we got to see Cricket and Lola in all their colorful glory. I LOVE that we got to see Calliope win gold at the Olympics. It was perfection.
I have been crying for the last 30+ pages from both sadness and joy. It was perfection.

I am going to copy my commentary from while reading below.

- Pg 3 she got her wisdom teeth out that morning and she is out in public by herself talking?? Ummm ya. No. I’m pretty sure the first day after I got mine out I was still mostly out of it from the anesthesia. I was swollen I looked like a chipmunk. And I slept for most of the afternoon. I sure as shit would not have been allowed to wonder the city alone, nor would I have wanted to. And had I been in public and seen a cute boy I was crushing on I would have ran
- Pg 99 “Your footwear tends to run on the exceedingly tall side. You know we all know you’re short, right? It’s not, like, a secret.”
- They are the same heights as my husband and I. A full foot difference. I now see why she wanted to wear heels to aid in the possibility of a first kiss 😂
- Pg 112.  The phantom’s opera house. There’s a real opera house where the story is based???
- Pg 144 These books have all surprised me by how 🌶 they are for YA books
- Pg 147 you guys are totally going to get caught again and get suspended.
- Pg 149 “And you'll get into them all. But you'll accept Dartmouth. And we'll get a studio on the river- which will still be bigger than this- and a cat that looks like Jacque, but we'll call him Jack. And we'll get a crappy car, something that doesn't even have AC, but it'll have a great radio, and we'll drive someplace new every weekend."
- Pg 178 “He follows me in, and we brush our teeth, We can't stop smiling at each other. I can't believe that adults get to do this every da; And I don't even mean sex, though it's wonderful, but things like this. Brushing our teeth at the same sink. Do adults realize how lucky they are? Or do they forget that these small moments are actually small miracles? I don't want to ever forget.”
- Everything is going so perfectly. The book is only half way through. I’m not looking forward to when the third quarter drama begins… I like them being happy and I don’t want to see their relationship struggle 🥺
- Pg 274 the relationship imploded. I am sad 😢
- Pg 304 😭
- Pg 313 Omg St Clair just proposed to Anna. Now I’m crying happy tears 🥹
adventurous emotional hopeful fast-paced

I liked this book a lot for the most part, but I keep drawing back to Isla's talk with her sister Hattie about how she felt like she couldn't/didn't deserve love, that she felt she was a blank canvas.
I know that Isla is a blank canvas in the fact that she didn't have her future planned out, and that Josh came into her life and filled her canvas with a future and possibilities, but they constantly told each other that they loved the other, so did Isla just not let herself believe that Josh didn't mean it until after she saw his memoir?
Also I agree that on Josh's end it seemed insta-lovey at first, and on Isla's end it was mild obsession at first, HOWEVER, as they got to know each other and spend more time together it became love.
I think my favorite part of this book was the ending. Seeing Anna & Étienne and Lola & Cricket and Isla & Josh and Meredith all together just before Étienne proposed to Anna. It was so wonderful to see the two couples so happy, and I enjoyed Isla and Josh making up and her reading the memoir again with it changes. That's not to say I didn't enjoy the rest of the book. I did, and though the Christmas Eve's Eve car ride scene was difficult to read, it made sense.
I'd love a book following the couples set like 10 years in the future because I'd love to see Anna & Étienne's children and see what the future holds for Lola & Cricket and Isla & Josh.

4.5 stars rounded up to 5 because it was just so freaking cute. I didn’t think I could enjoy this book as much as Lola and the Boy Next Door, but this was adorable.

I loved Anna and the French Kiss, liked Lola and the Boy Next Door, but DNF-ed hard with Isla and the Happily Ever After. I can't tell if I would have enjoyed this more if I were younger, but this was just cringe from start to finish to be honest.
