I cried several times reading this book. I thought it was beautiful.
While I haven't been a big fan of the other two books in this series, I actually did enjoy this book. Isla could be immature and annoying at times but overall, I enjoyed it.
Reread 8/21/15: Omg. Joshua Wasserstein. You sly, sly dog. I love these books SO MUCH.
Original Review 8/18/14: This was everything I wanted it to be, and so much more. It blew Anna and Lola out of the water. Oh gosh. This book. This book means so much to me. I can't even phrase my feelings because I am just SO in love with everything about this. So much more resonant and less bubblegum-y than the first two books. It was perfect. I can't. I'm so sad the series is over, but I'm so glad it ended the way it did. ALL THE STARS.

Here's the deal. I waited for this book for three years because Stephanie Perkins has probably written the best YA chick lit there is. The characters always have so much depth and color, and the plot doesn't run with the typical, formula that every other YA literature does. So I was suuuuuper excited. And then I started this book.
And I devoured it, obviously. I love Perkins's writing, I love how she writes a first person point of view that doesn't make me dislike the character, because I feel like I personally get very turned off by the main character that way. I really liked Isla. Not as much as I remember loving Anna or Lola, but I did like her. She's a sweet, awkward, shy character whose obsession with her crush is very endearing and reminiscent to me.
But I didn't particularly like the flow of the story, nor the development of the plot, or the conflict, which shouldn't have been the conflict. I don't like how powerful words were exchanged in the very beginning of the story, because it didn't feel like it built up enough.
I loved how in Anna, Paris was such an important part to the story, and I understand that this being the third book, maybe it wasn't supposed to have a focus point, but it would have been really nice to see these places come more to life. Paris and New York City, more could have been done.
I LOVE Kurt. I love my side characters, and the best part about Anna was that the side characters were really important to the story. Kurt was in the beginning a lot, but I think he kind of got lost towards the end. His conversation with Isla about being replaced was never really fully addressed, again, I think due to the pacing.
Overall though, I just love Stephanie Perkins, and this story was satisfying. Reading it made me feel a lot of the same emotions as the characters. Perkins does such a good job engaging her audience. I can't say enough about how much I adore her writing. I'm gonna go back and reread the first two books she's written and wait until she comes out with something else.

I HAD THE BIGGEST EPIPHANY EVER. But that's why I get for reading Isla before Lola and not realizing it sooner. But overall a great love story and is for anyone looking for something sappy

Is it possible for Stephanie Perkins to write a bad book? Seriously you guys, this is a legit question. I think she must mix some sort of magic in with the ink because every time I pick up one of her stories, I'm hooked. Isla was no exception. This is a gorgeous conclusion to one of my favorite contemporary YA series with everything Stephanie Perkins in known for: relatable characters, amazing dialogue, and a romance that'll have you swooning!
Out of all of Stephanie Perkins' lead girls, I think I related most with Isla. She was shy, quiet, a book lover, and hardcore crushing on a guy. Basically my life, amiright? It was so easy for my to jump into her head and just connect with her. I completely understood where she was coming from and why she was doing what she was doing. Even when I didn't agree with her, I got why. The only real problem I had with her (and the book in general) was how completely she let Josh take over her life. I'm all for happily ever afters and being with the guy of your dreams but the way she let him and being away from him affect the other facets of her life wasn't healthy and made me cringe.

I adored Josh. Seriously. He was amazing. Maybe my favorite of all three boys in this series. He was complicated and shy at times and so real. It was like I could just reach out and touch him in the page I wish. One of my favorite parts of his character was his art. I loved the scenes when we got to see him paint or got to look at his drawings. The descriptions were just gorgeous. I especially loved the tree house scenes. You'll know it when you get to it :)
Another aspect of this novel I really liked was Isla's relationship with her sisters. I have an older sister and a younger brother and the way to interacted with her siblings was on point. I completely know where Isla was coming from with her feelings, especially how she felt about her little sister.
The plot was different from the other books in this series but no less enjoyable. It was less about the characters finding there way to be with each other and more about learning how to be together. There were definitely ups and downs and very frustrating moments but it was so worth it. I was rooting for them the entire time and I loved seeing the way their relationship played out.
I'm so sad I don't have another novel in this series to look forward to but I love the way this ended. The characters were gorgeous, the writing amazing, and the plot was unique. I can't wait to see what Stephanie Perkins comes out with next.

Downloaded a copy of the book at 12:10 a.m., when it first became available on my nook. Finished some time before 4 a.m. Am exhausted. Worth it? Definitely. Go read this book now!
Y qué feliz me hicieron esas páginas <3
