there was definitely more character development for Mia in this book, and the fact that she progressively got more confident. I greatly appreciated. I also like that she is learning to find her own boundaries and working towards sharing those boundaries with others because I remember that time when I was in high school and that was not easy, but in hindsight, very helpful. This one has actually got me excited to listen to the next book in the series.

Oh, what can I say? I read the first half of this series back in 2013 just as escapism, but I stopped at book number 5 after getting bored with it all. Thanks to [b:Royal Wedding|23215471|Royal Wedding (The Princess Diaries, #11)|Meg Cabot|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1418786285l/23215471._SY75_.jpg|41355508]'s release, though, I decided to pick the series back up just so I can read that one.

From a "oh, this is good for teens" perspective, I'm impressed that Cabot presents such a varied and positive portrayal of under-age Doing It. (Irritatingly enough, Mia refers to sex this way for most of the book.) Like, I'd be happy with my sister reading this book just so she can learn that no, condoms are not good if they've been in a boy's wallet for a year but yes, it's good to have an honest conversation with a boy if you think you're ready. So yay for that.

From an writing perspective, this book is just as funny as the first five installments. Cabot really is a very entertaining writer. Mia is still pretty annoying - overdramatic, uses caps a lot for EMPHASIS, etc etc - but it didn't annoy me as much in this one, though maybe it's just because I took such a long break in between books. If you're trucking along in the series, this one won't ruin it for you, at the very least.

I LOVE THIS SERIES!!! I love stories about princesses!!

This book kicks off Mia's sophomore year, and centers around another one of Lily's insane plots she drags Mia into (nominating her to be class president against her will...for Lily's own benefit of course). While I actually liked the presidency plot because it was nice to see Mia grow into herself more and become more confident in her leadership skills, Lily and Mia's friendship is just so irritating (the baby licker thing, UGH). Lily's so selfish and I just want Mia to kick her to the curb! Mia also focuses A LOT on sex (namely feeling pressured to have it thanks to Lana's comments to Mia about college boyfriend expectations) and while Mia's neurosis didn't bother me, her tendencies to obsess over things that other people WHO SHE KNOWS SHE SHOULDN'T TRUST tell her is taxing. Also, Michael seemed a little forward about his expectations considering Mia is 15 years old. It was fun to read about Mia's interactions with her little brother Rocky, though, and Tina's relationship with Boris (who is now a hottie, I totally forgot!). 3/5 Stars

I really give this book a 4.5. This has probably been my favorite princess diaries books so far.

This one was back to cute. Less repetition thankfully. Same old Mia. I really hope Mia does keep the presidency and Lilly is happy with V.P.. I also enjoyed the slumber party bit and that Mia got to experience things that were a bit more normal teenage life.

3.5 ⭐️

- Mia is such a spaz! She freaks out over everything! GROW UP ALREADY!!

- The content is not appropriate for the target audience. I wouldn't want my teen daughter freakin' out about sex at that age, or thinking that it's normal.

- I know Mia and Michael's age difference won't be an issue when they are older, but right now when Mia is in high school and Michael is in college, I just don't think their relationship is okay right now. Mia is still a minor!!

- I'm glad people are FINALLY calling Mia out on her over thinking things and being a spaz!

- Are Frank and Mia ever going to develop a father/daughter relationship? Mia still calls him Mr. G? You'd think they would try to bond a little, especially since they live in the same apartment. Their awkward relationship is weird.
