Fascinating, true story that reads like a novel. In light of recent events, this is yet another appalling example of unwarranted privilege and protection granted to a white male defendant. This book desperately needs an epilogue! Without an epilogue, I had to give it a lower overall score. I would recommend The Feather Thief to anyone who cares about the environment, about stopping the horrible waste of natural resources, and bringing wildlife traffickers to justice.

A very interesting look inside a truly odd secret world. I care nothing fly tying - I don’t even really like birds. But I love history, heists, and strange obsessions. Wallace doesn’t over make this story - it’s excellence is in its simplicity. Are there bad guys? Are these victimless crimes? The fascination is in their fascination with something so niche as to be almost pointless, and the money and risk they’ll go to in its pursuit.
