Ebook received for an honest review.

A spicy take on Hades and Persephone, if they met on earth, lived amongst humans, whilst avoiding detection, but cannot seem to avoid each other.

Hades has been visiting earth for enough time to establish his own bank and save enough, that when the other Greek gods come to earth, they receive a very generous living stipend from him. Which also helps him to keep tabs on who's visiting, until he notices someone who's evading him and so the search begins.

Persephone moved to earth to escape her confined life on Olympus, throwing herself into work, until her funds are cut off prompting her to search for the God who's in charge of all their bank accounts.

The characters were fun. Hades being the boss with an endearing side and Persephone as a confident woman, who's trying to figure out life by herself, whilst knowing she's been sheltered.

The set up of the Greek pantheon on earth was really interesting, but I did find myself wishing the other characters featured more, around 3/4 of the way through the book.

Which was where the focus was on the main characters and the plot had slowed down a bit, however, enough seeds have been sown in this book, to leave a reader wanting to know how things proceed between the characters in the sequel, especially with the involvement of side characters.

Hades is the CEO of a bank and Persephone is a social media manager who is new to earth. When Hades shuts down Persephone's funds the two gods lives intertwine in a way that neither of them ever expected. Will they become the best king and queen the underworld has ever seen or will they tear each other apart?

Firstly, the writing. It was pretty good. The writing seemed mature, fitting the themes of the story. The writing flowed really well, I didn't really get caught up on any parts. There are a couple of things that I thought were not described in enough detail. One of those things was that neither of the main characters were really described. Many of the side characters were but the main characters really weren't. If it weren't for the artwork included in the book, I wouldn't know what either of the main characters really look like. Another thing that I was a little disappointed by were the sex scenes. Really on the positions were described and their emotions. Nothing about their bodies were super described. It just felt like vague outlines of them.

Secondly, the characters. I thought that the characters were pretty well written. They each seemed to have their own personalities that were separate from their romantic interest. Although I didn't totally like how Hades treated Persephone in the bed room. It seemed very out of character for the both of them.

The plot was pretty good. It flowed extremely well and many decisions that the characters made, made sense with the characterization shown in the novel.

Onto the powers. I really didn't understand how their powers worked. There were definitely some parts of their powers that I understood but Hades did some things a couple of times that I didn't totally understand how he could do. Also they kept ripping the buttons off of shirts and then putting them back on. I'm not totally sure how the buttons were put back but alright. I suspended my disbelief for that one but it happened a lot. The curse that was mentioned also made me roll my eyes a little bit but it worked with the story.

Overall, it was pretty good despite being outside of my typical reading genre. If you love forbidden romance, office romance, fated mates, and sassy main characters, you'll love this book.

Boss romance, enemies to lovers, sunshine x grumpy, Hades x Persephone

I absolutely loved this book.  It hit all my favorite tropes, was a fun read and the absolute perfect length for a quick weekend read.  While it’s a mythological retelling, the characters were all so enjoyable and the plot moved along smoothly.  I’d highly recommend this to anyone looking another Hades x Persephone retelling!

This had me alternating between laughing my ass off and clenching my thighs! Oh, and groaning at how BAD they are at communicating 🤣 They are literally the WORST at forming cohesive sentences that express what they're really feeling 😅 And they're both dragging so much trauma behind them they they second guess everything! But I mean, it just makes the story all the more agonizing for us 🖤

I've read a few Hades x Persephone retellings and so far this one is my favorite! Have I been using too many exclamation points?! I can't get over them. They're both loveable, both have unique insecurities and both *begin* to grow as a person... I'm sure books 2 and 3 will show even more personal growth.

Also love the secondary characters Hekate, Mellie and Helios. They deserve their own books

This was a fun quick read and I’m starting the sequel right away. Although this book ends on a cliffhanger and continues in the next book so it’s less of a sequel and more of a volume 2 situation. The characters are entertaining without being obnoxious. Spice is alright, but oddly repetitive by the end of the book. Probably because it’s frequent and not particularly out there so there’s only so much to say.

I’m hoping that so many plot lines are unresolved because there are two more volumes to go.

I think it could have been edited down, but it’s a fun read for sure. Hades is deeply retrospective, but knows he wants Persephone almost right away (and boy is he jealous). Whereas Persephone is willful and not ready to admit how she feels.

What the hell?! What kind of end is that and when is the next book coming out?!?! I seriously though there was a problem with my ebook copy and was searching for a complete copy.

I devoured this book! Their relationship sometimes drove me crazy but I couldn't help constantly rooting for them.

I delayed writing this review. This time it wasn’t the ADHD, it wasn’t that I hadn’t gotten everything else prepped, it was because I didn’t want to write it. Which breaks my heart. This story had everything going for it that I was going to love it. Hades and Persephone retelling, spice, fated mates, sass, a beautiful cover.

However, after the recent deluge of Hades and Persephone retellings I have been a bit spoiled. And I will say outright that while this story wasn’t my cup of tea it wasn’t bad. The writing was well done, though I did feel like the middle was a bit slow. However, we go from sassy party girl with a human boyfriend to immediate spice with Hades very very quickly. So. Much. Spice. And not getting into specialized spice just the quantity of it. Which, I love me a smutty erotica, it is one of my guilty pleasures and I have zero shame for it. But… Even with a fated mates scenario I don’t tend to enjoy instalove, and while this was more instalust it was a bit overwhelming.

I think what made me so frustrated was the absolute ridiculous levels of miscommunication. Miscommunication can be a good trope, some of my favorite character growth moments have come from miscommunication being used in a story. However, there was nearly no clearing the air moment that allowed for that growth. I set my book down at the end and was so mad that I didn’t get any resolution from the miscommunication. It was one step forward and five steps back.

I will say that the plot twist wasn’t anything I expected? In that way I appreciated how it happened, and the ending was very dramatic as Persephone was the entire book so that was mildly satisfying. But it is SUCH cliffhanger. Again with no resolution.

I haven’t decided if I’m picking up book 2. I want to mostly because I feel like this book was much of a set up, and there will be character growth in the next one? Undecided. Can you tell me if you’ve read it, thoughts and if you’d read the next one? I’d love to hear!
