This book was provided to me in exchange for a unbiased review by NetGalley.

Overall this is another Hades and Persephone retelling, office/boss drama, somewhat enemies to lovers? If the Hades/Persephone relationship wasn’t already defined outside of this book it would have fallen flat. This was instalove, sex, sex, sex with not much substance otherwise through the middle. Once we got to where they were actually having sex things changed and the story got interesting. I will be reading the 2nd book, 3.5 stars.

The smut in this? Top TIER. It was so hot. The humor that was infused throughout the book kept me laughing until the end when I cried. I absolutely loved what Jeanette and Alexis put onto the page. The modern retelling was absolutely perfect and I loved the inclusion of the workplace drama. I already have picked out all the side characters I desperately need stories for!! I am waiting eagerly for book 2 with Hades & Persephone but also all the other stories from this world.

White cashmere cardigan background with pink rose petals falling down. Review 5/5 Stars, 5/5 Spice on the right middle side of the image, in dark green text that matches the forest background of the cover. Cover of the Maiden and the Unseen by Jeanette Rose and Alexis Rune. Cover is a green forest background with brown thorns and vines and pink roses crawling up from the bottom and top edges.

It's a Hades x Persephone retelling, and honestly it didn't disappoint. It had spice and angst and chemistry. Plus the author didn't over dragged some plots...

The story itself was 2/5 and the spice gave it that extra star. A lot of the book could have been cut out and at times I felt like the story was going nowhere.

the spice in this was fantastic, but it was 'instant love', like 2 chapters in, and i found it so irritating that they went from zero to hopeless for each other that fast. i couldnt get over it.

What was everyone else reading because it wasn’t the same book as me.

Breeding kink for her acting like the biggest wet lettuce, second to only one other depiction of Persephone. They didn’t have a single meaningful conversation before or after. There’s just. Some good sex, shadow sex, horns— something??

I didn’t fully hate it. I had a good time with some of the smut but my god was this painful at times.
