loved it except for the part where the love interest like very physically hurts the fmc (like breaks bones). the world building is very neat—i’m excited to see more of that in the second book and see where the romance goes.

SO good. I haven’t sat and read like this in a long time. I truly couldn’t put the book down after about the the 45% mark, that’s not to say this book is slow or anything. I found the pace to be perfect. These characters!! I’m going to be thinking about Arin and Sylvia for a long time. I need the second book to be published..

This book kind of drops you in the deep end when it comes the the world-building - there was way too much detail in dumps instead of letting it develop which is a shame because the Persian-theme was really interesting. There are a lot of plot holes & inconsistencies, and the characters almost seemed to devolve instead of develop. It felt like the author tried to fit in so much that the plot lost all sense of reality. I loved the idea of the book and the world and I liked Arin & Sylvia at the beginning but it just left me wanting. Also, WTF was with that ending!?
