I found it really hard to get invested in the story and characters. Everything felt very long and rambling and I didn’t feel like information was being conveyed in an effective way.

Not a bad book by any means, but it’s very predictable and maybe a bit underdeveloped? Overall it’s good but mid if that makes sense. The ending wasn’t very satisfying,
and I did not like how it was Keralie was the assassin and how that worked.

When I saw this book on a shelve in a New Yorker book shop I just had to take a look because this cover is so beautiful and caught my eye the second I walked into the shop. I was instantly intrigued by the summary and bought it. I've been disappointed by pretty covers before but this book didn't disappoint at all.

"Four Dead Queens" is mind blowing and kinda obscure in a way that you just can't figure out who murdered the four queens. Astrid Scholte starts building suspense in the very beginning of the book and it never subsides. It's one of the many reasons why I couldn't put "Four Dead Queens" down. If you like mysteries then you'll definitely love this book because it's hands down one of the best mystery novels I've ever read; and I've read many.

Astrid Scholte also paints a beautiful fantasy world which I wish I could visit someday. Sadly that's not possible but the world she build is truly great and very interesting to read about. I'm fascinated by the way she builds this world without drifting into a boring "history lesson" about the backstory of Quadara or the plain description of landscapes.

Same goes for all of the characters but especially Keralie and Varin. They're beautifully written and so easy to feel into. I loved the contrasts in those two characters and how they developed throughout the story while trying to uncover the murderer. Nevertheless the other main and side characters were beautifully fleshed out as well. I love how detailed all of her characters are and how much time Scholte apparently invests in creating backstories for her characters.

I can't think about anything I didn't like about this book because it is just flawless in my opinion. It will suck you in (in the best way) and leave you guessing while slowly unraveling this mystery.

Soooo good! The twist in this book is not what I expected at all!! I was shocked usually I know what going to happens before it happens but not this book!

Loved the story! Amazing work couldn't put the book down, so have a had a few late nights

Thank you for the amazing story.
