This is a very good book - I just truly did not enjoy the journey at all. It's likely to do with the sad and heavy topics at a time that I would have preferred to be reading light and airy things, but I really had to push myself to finish. The ending was redeeming enough that, along with the solid literary value, it bumped the rating up from 2 to 3 stars for me. No fault of the book, just not a good time when I wanted a good time.

CHARACTERISATION
Kindle版本但是没有X-Ray，全书十几个角色都有恰到好处的笔墨去刻画。少有的我不用花时间反应、频繁回忆，也少有角色名字对不上号的情况出现。作者对人物的刻画之饱满和文字功底之深厚可见一斑。
READABILITY
一开始的致辞有稍微劝退，但很高兴书店里翻到的几页让我印象深刻到愿意看完前几页致辞，也更帮助我了解作者的写作初衷。全篇都用信件的方式呈现。女主的经历和坚韧让我不断感概，Dear God到Dear Celie也许就在暗示
