I did not enjoy this nearly as much as I did greenglass house. Disappointed…I fell with a little editing and leaving parts of it out it could have been amazing. I am an adult, I can’t imagine a young reader sticking with this one. It also doesn’t provide the read aloud allure of the first book. Not sure I will bother with the third in the series.

Every bit as charming, cozy, and mysterious as the original, with an even greater emphasis on family love and identity than the original. I love this strange world of pirates, thieves, secrets, ghosts, and ghastly horse beings so much. My only complaint is that I want more, but I suppose there's several other books set in this world, if not Greenglass House specifically, and I'm hungry to read them all now.

Although the book was slow at times and it took me a while to get through, I still enjoyed the coziness of it. The characters are ones I’ll remember and love forever. Will definitely be reading more of the series.

I’m giving this 4 stars because I liked the first book better, but these books are literally some of the most fun I’ve had reading in a while

Unfortunately, this book was nowhere near as engaging or entertaining as the first. For some reason, I just could not get invested in the story! That wasn’t a problem for me at all in the first book, but this one was just different. I tried and tried and kept pushing myself and willing myself to like it, but I just couldn’t get excited about the mystery.

It was especially weird because I found the story to be intriguing, but I also regularly felt like I was only understanding a portion of it all. I enjoyed it generally speaking, but I also kind of got lost in a lot of the technicalities and the background information.

This was such a great sequel to the first book in the series! I love how Milo’s character develops in this one and the emotional lessons he learns along the way. The mystery was soo good! This was also a very relaxing book to cozy up with, much like the first.

It might have even been better than the first, which is saying something because the first book was so good as well! I loved the diverse cast of characters in this one. Again, I feel like this book is even better than the first in this regard with so many personalities and unique backgrounds of the people from the Liberty and Nagspeake.

As someone else had mentioned, this book and the first one are great to start with if you are looking to read the further stand-alone books, particularly The Thief Knot as the main character in that one is a supporting character here. Based on the background and character development here, I am SO excited to read The Thief Knot now!!! I need more Marzana!

I also loved the ending of this book. So sweet and well thought out!

Just a wonderful, cozy, wintery Christmas read that I’ll be looking forward to coming back to every year! 🥰🥰🥰 Warmed my heart!
