Read this and the flies together -- by being a one-act, I felt like it was less developed than the flies, which I enjoyed more and felt that the themes were explored more.

J'ai adoré lire, après avoir fini Huis Clos, ce que Sartre avait à dire sur cette pièce, pourquoi il l'avait écrite, quel message il essayait de faire passer à travers elle.
And these words hit so close to home, it feels like it was just about the right time that I read it.
Je vous laisse un lien vers lequel vous renseigner sur la question :

En tout cas, une pièce sympathique qui en a finalement bien plus dans son coffre qu'une simple comédie.

Ghosts (2019 sitcom) meets Waiting for Godot (1952 play) in the hellish abyss whereabouts.

very funny. i can see why this is a favorite play for college acting troupes to put on.

I read this in its original language for french class last year and was surprised to find I actually enjoyed it. I didn't absolutely detest having to completely over-analyze every sentence of it, and I found myself getting invested in the story.

The entire play takes place in one room with a whopping three significant characters (four in total, others mentioned but not 'seen'). It is, honestly, an incredible delve into existentialism and a complete mind-fuck of a book. Not in a twisty, you-never-saw-any-of-this-shit-coming kind of way, but more so in a wow-I-actually-had-to-think-for-once kind of way.

It wasn't five stars for me, or even four, simply because this isn't the genre of book I'm actually into. It was well written and the story was very well thought-out, but it's a little odd to read something in which there's not a single character you should be rooting for. They're all in hell for a reason, clearly.

Still. Me, enjoying something I was forced to read for school?

Sartre's a genius, guys. That's all there is to it.
