Damn is this series good fun. Absolutely gut-wrenching, nail-biting, anxiety-driving-you-to-tears fun, of course. While I don’t think I vibed with this one as much as the first, I still adored it and definitely felt more anxiety and fear and sadness than I did in book two. Asha rather irritated me at first, if I’m honest. She read like too much of a typical romance heroine, determined to doubt her MMC until the very end. I’m stoked with how that trope was flipped on its head by the end, though. Rhys also just wasn’t that compelling of a hero for me this time around, as compared to Ezra and Nik.

That said, I loved all the characters overall, loved their arcs, loved this epic journey they all went on. I loved the emotions this series brought out in me—a decided rarity when I’m reading these days. My jaw was quite literally on the floor so many times from plot twists or characters’ decisions I never saw coming. The highs were so high and the lows were abysmal. I will be rereading this series again in the future, and highly, highly recommend them to anyone like me who lives under a rock and hadn’t heard of them in the past ten years. This was such a good time.

In this finale all the stories from the previous books came together and their connection is realized and well as all the lose ends are tied of beautifully.

I was so excited to just binge read this I didn’t even add it to goodreads 😂 I LOOOOOOOVE EVERYTHING AND OMG IM GONNA BE BACK WITH JUST A SPOILER SECTION SCREAMING ABOUT IT ALL

Spoiler
That damn parachute

The whole goddamn court case

NIK BEING THE TRANSCRIPT GUY

Hannah adding in kissing scenes

KADY AND HER DAD AND HANNAH AND ADOPTING AWWW

KATYA

Dude I was crying

And then I was smiling

Then I was cry smiling

AIDEN IS ALIVEEEEEEEEEEE

Not gonna lie I thought katya was asha and Rhys kid before I knew her name wasn’t Samaria

I loved how Asha was just a normal person, in a fucked situation, and the moral conscious bits, and the horribleness of war.

THEM STANDING UP IN THE COURT CASE
THEY DID THAT
THEY DID IT

...AIDEN WHAT THE FUCJKJ
the last page?

with the photo of them all together *sobbing with happiness*

Okay i dont know if anyone actually expects me to review this book because does it really need to be reviewed in a non spoilery way? I think not.

CAN SOMEONE PLEASE GIVE ME ILLUMINAE CHRONICLES AS AN EPIC WELL DONE SCI FI MOVIE PLEASE AND THANK YOU?!

The series ends on a high note for me, which is something given how much I loved the other 2. It's just as satisfying and exciting and brilliant as the others and I can't recommend it highly enough, though honestly if you've read the other two, you likely don't need convincing to read this book. it's heartbreaking and clever and I love it.

A solid trilogy all around. I would recommend this to anyone with a desire for a fast-paced sci-fi series with a great cast of characters.
