Before starting the Illuminae files, I was not a science fiction fan AT ALL. Honestly, I never really saw what was great about it. Until I decided to give Illuminae a try since Gemina had just come out at the time and I loved it! Two books later and now it’s the end of the trilogy. This book made me feel so many things. Anger at decisions made by Rhys before seeing the bigger picture, lots of laughter at the scenes with Nik, Hanna,Ella,Kady and Ezra[they had the funniest chats between them all], fear at what happened to my favourite characters. Obsidio was written so well as there was Rhys and Asha’s storyline that was introduced and joined Ezra and Kady’s as well as Nik and Hanna’s which ended perfectly to finish the series. I still can’t believe that after the first two books; I still believe the fact that certain characters died, especially since if they truly had died, then they wouldn’t be mentioned at the end of book one when Kady was speaking to Leanne about what happened on Kerenza and the events that took place after. I’m so sad to have to say goodbye to this series but not so upset because it felt unfinished[which it didn’t]. This book+series deserves a 5/5⭐️

im going to miss my gang of space teens saving themselves from genocide

A complete and utter disappointment...

I FORMED A NEW RIVER WITH MY TEARS BECAUSE OF THIS BOOK. All my emotions are now sailing through the deep waters across town as we speak.

Obsidio is beautiful and funny. It's dark and full of twists. It broke my heart into a hundred pieces. It's the best conclusion to a series I have come to treasure in the past two months.

I can't believe everything is over. I still hear AIDAN's voice whenever I close my eyes and I don't think I'll ever forget it when he says, "Am I not merciful?"

AIDAN sounds like a broke poet from the victorian era but with genocidal tendencies. I love him and I hate him. It's chilling how AIDAN does unspeakable things for the greater good. It's even scarier that the things it does are logical. Plus the way it protects Kady??? IT GIVES ME THE CREEPS, CHUMS. That doesn't mean I'm not grateful that it protects my fave so much. You see how conflicted I am right here? AIDAN made me cry more than anyone else in this book. Kaufman and Kristoff wrote one of the most unique characters in the whole bookish universe and I applaud them for that.

Obsidio gave me a fast-paced and thrilling adventure which kept me preoccupied for weeks. I lived for my faves finally being friends and ALL THE BANTER MADE ME SQUEAL WITH JOY. Nik, Ezra, Hannah, Kady, Ella, and AIDAN make such a good team. I also loved Asha and Rhys.

This book gave great insight to how a planet that has almost been destroyed to nothingness is coping up with everything. The tension between BeiTech and the Insurgency kept me on my toes. The blurred lines between good and evil turned my brain into AIDAN soup. THE SCHEMING AND PLOTTING THIS BOOK HAS IS ALMOST UNREAL.

Of course, I'm heartbroken that this series has come to an end but I'm also happy with how it turned out. I'm grateful for all the characters who made me laugh and cry. I'm grateful for all the times this series transported me to space and made me a part of the Illuminae group's journey.
