Too graphic. Did not like the ending.

This book is very emotionally charged, and tells a heartbreaking and touching story of this young African boy's life. I commend him for writing his story and making peope aware that situations occur like this during the present time.

I loved this book.

Reading a long way gone was overall enjoyable, but I think Beah's method of storytelling made reading this feel dreary at times. Wonderful story nonetheless. Not too long, so it is worth a read.

A powerful and well-constructed memoir. I saw the author speaking in person last week in his role as a UNICEF goodwill ambassador and his public speaking is just as compelling as his writing. I look forward to reading some of his fictional work.

Excellent book. I had to stop several times to process what I was reading on a human level. My heart broke for the author, his family, friends, and nation as I read this.
