I had to restart the book due to a reading slump, and I ended up finishing it in five days - that’s how much I enjoyed this story. The only reason this wasn’t a 5-star read was the slow beginning as the story tries to find its pace, and there is a small side issue that bugged me, about what Abby and Rhys found in that one abandoned house. We never hear about that again. I listened to the audiobook, and with the last 5 chapters, I had to grab my book and follow along as I listened; that’s how invested I was. When the action picked up, it picked up full speed.

I loved the characters and the friendship between Abby, Rhys, Riya, and Connor. Their friendship is more like a found family, and I adored that. Abby and Hope’s sisterly relationship was amazing and so inspiring. I shipped Abby and Rhys from the very beginning. Even the town of Blighty was a character in the story.

The whole concept of the Stitcher, this small town’s own boogyman/urban legend, was amazingly detailed and creepy as hell. The whole plot and backstory we get is so detailed and so freaking awesome. I love the way the book led you in one direction because that’s the direction the characters are going, only to completely spin you around and make you question everything you know so far.

Overall, this was yet another amazing book by Darcy Coates. I can’t wait to read what she comes out with next.

This book did in fact give me nightmares and I still couldn’t stop reading it. While this is about a group of teens it’s not an immature YA horror. There are some gruesome descriptions of The Stitcher and his handiwork that were not the easiest to stomach. I enjoyed the relationships between the main characters and the way the story explores the stories behind urban legends and how of course as humans we’re always looking for the plausible explanation. Elements of this book reminded me a bit of The Winter People by Jennifer McMahon and I agree with other reviews that it’s also reminiscent of Stranger Things. This is definitely a page turner I didn’t want to put down and a very solid supernatural horror with an interesting villain backstory so to speak. There were a few loose ends that didn’t necessarily need resolved, but also could have been explored a bit more.

⭐⭐⭐⭐

For my first read of a book by Darcy Coates I really enjoyed it, I got sucked right into the story and I just had to know what was happening ... Is there something supernatural going on in this town or is it simply a grotesque killer among the midst?

For me personally, this story has the potential to be very dark and gruesome, but that's just me and what I like to read.
Though, this book is labeled as a YA horror book but I still enjoyed it! Don't be fooled by it's label
Giving you somewhat of a 'Stranger Things'/'IT' vibe with a group of teens uncovering and fighting the towns dark mystery, it kept me engaged throughout, it gives you the creep factor, it's sinister and well written.

What else I liked about this book was that it gave me good imagery of the town and the events taking place within.
If this was a real town with these things actually happening, I feel like this is how the towns people would act with their differences in opinion of who or what The Stitcher Man is, the division of some town folk and mixed with the sense of isolation for both the people and the town itself, I could easily believe this is exactly how it would be.

With all that said, this will definitely not be my last Darcy Coates book that I will read

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️¼ — Creepy, creative, and kept me hooked!

Where He Can’t Find You was such a cool surprise. I wasn’t expecting something this original—it blended horror, mystery, and a touch of supernatural suspense in a way that felt super fresh. The tension starts early and never really lets up, and the creepy factor? So good. The Whisper Man gave me major chills every time he appeared.
I especially loved the protagonist’s voice—she felt real and brave without being over-the-top—and the worldbuilding was eerie in the best way. I docked it just slightly because the pacing got a little jumpy toward the end, but honestly? I tore through this book. The story stuck with me afterward, and I’d totally recommend it to anyone who wants a smart, spooky read with heart.
This is definitely one of the better YA horror/thrillers I’ve read in a while, and I’ll be watching for whatever Darcy Coates writes next.
