I’ve read A LOT of dark books, it’s my thing. And i felt mixed emotions for this romance. Kay is strong yes but she’s folds too fast for my liking. And Nate is obviously a psychopath with a few other things pilled on top of that. Sometimes it’s hard to get through it. A lot of smut and maybe it was too much? Idk 3 stars is the most i could give it.
When I got the email saying I was getting this ARC I happy danced.
I have loved Nathan White since I met his psychotic self in the stoneview stories trilogy.
The Stockholm syndrome was most definitely real.
We get it Kayla girl, we do.
Lawless God & Ruthless King
Little sunflower & the sun
Match made in heaven, well probably more like h***,
but hey I ate this up like soup.
I’m sad this series is over but I’m glad we got all the players back together one last time to go out with a bang.

‼️POTENTIAL SPOILERS AHEAD‼️
Well. This was something. Idk if it was good or bad but it was...something. 4 stars for the mindfuckery and ✨️vibes✨️ alone. I haven't watched the movie Fear (starring Reese Witherspoon) yet but I do know the gist of it and have watched a couple of clips from the movie. And this book was eerily similar to it. Not as fucked up as that, but still. I legit felt terrified for the FMC - something that I've never felt before while reading a romance novel. Which is why I wouldn't classify this book as a romance. I mean, I've read my fair share of fucked up shit in dark romance and have even fallen for toxic men - albeit after their redemption - but Nathan White takes the cake. Even with this book ending with a HEA, I have a hard time believing that Nate truly loves Kay. Maybe it's because of my personal experience with narcissists and manipulators or what ig. Props to the author for writing and capturing Nate's manipulative and emotionless personality so perfectly. There were times when I truly thought that he was gonna end up being a serial killer and murder Kay. His character gave me whiplash with the way he fed Kay his pretty lies one moment, making her believe that he had a human side and within the next instant, he'd be this unfeeling psychopath intent on getting his revenge and torturing her. Nathan is a textbook psychopath with an antisocial personality disorder. I'm sure pysch students are gonna have a field day with him haha. Honestly tho? Nate was scary. I can't remember a time when I've actually felt scared of the MMC and not wanted him to get with the FMC. In my head, this is still a psych thriller-ish book with aspects of romance in it. With that being said, it was still a good read.
