The Miriam Black series is fun, bloody, and profane and continues to improve with each book.
I remembered, after the first night, I need not to read these books until it's time for bed. I need something else in my mind or my dreams will be seriously messed up. As I said before these books are not for the faint of heart.

These books are creepy and weird and pretty much impossible to forget.
I have to say, I enjoyed this more than Mockingbirds, honestly. The hook of the killer baiting Miriam by leaving her messages with the deaths that he knew she was going to see was an absolutely brilliant way of using her curse!gift in service of the plot, and the execution was pretty flawless for an action-thriller-urban fantasy story. Miriam is deeply screwed up, and I still kind of love that about her. The progression of her bird connection is great, and I'm looking forward to her Colorado trip.

The Cormornat by Chuck Wendig is the continuing story of Miriam Black. We see her transition from a thief into a killer and as all things these come at a price however Miriam isn’t killing for the bad she is doing it to protect the innocent. When her past catches up with her in this book we get to see who the real Miriam is.
There is always a book in a series which focuses on the protagonists background and that’s what The Cormornat is. It’s definitely an important one for the story because we don’t just learn about what brought Miriam to this crossroads but also the implications that come along with it. She can’t outrun her past and that’s exactly what catches up with her in this book.
As with the previous ones the story is fast paced and gripping, there was that consistent feeling of wanting to know what was coming next not just for Miriam but also the mystery behind why some encounters were popping up out of nowhere. The story focuses in on the finer details which are needed to be brought forth for the reader.
It’s a great progressing story, there are more hints as to what’s coming next and as ever I cant wait to find out!!

It lost a star for the bi/pan-erasure. I almost didn't finish but Wendig waited long enough into the story that it would have been a waste to drop it. The story was compelling, more so than the previous novels, but not allowing Miriam to claim her sexuality ruined it :(((
