Angosciante e inquietante.

Distressing and disturbing, but in a positive way. I like how the facts are shown little by little, leaving the reveal in the last pages (unlike the previous book, where I had it all figured out). I got caught up in the plot and I liked the new developments in the characters' lives (and this time we don't get much of it, which is even better). Ok, the story can become quite heavy at a certain point, but Lackberg is so good at writing that it's not a problem. I can't wait to read the next chapter of the series.

I continue to enjoy lackberg's writing and characters but not her way of telling a mystery without actually giving the reader any workable clues. all the ah-hah moments take place off the page, as it were. but I'll probably keep reading anyway.

These are becoming more and more formulaic, flashbacks to an unknown set of characters in a present-day character's past, clues slowly revealed, one at a time to some (but never all) of the present-day characters, culminating in a 20 page whirlwind whodunnit revelation that sometimes even features the annoying new character who has never even been introduced until now. I will keep reading, though. I feel invested in the main characters after six books.

4.5 *s. I am a huge Camilla Lackberg fan and The Drowning did not disappoint. This story has a lot of characters which is a little confusing at first, but they are all important to the story so just be patient with it. As usual, Lackberg's crime fiction is complex and has a lot of depth. It builds slowly and does not rush. I really enjoyed the crime and psychological aspects of this book. I would not however recommend this one as a standalone. As the 6th in the series, we are well acquainted with Patrick, his wife Erika, and Patrick's coworkers. This particular story does not enhance these characters a lot. If you were not already familiar with them, I fear that they would seem lacking. Although the mystery tied up perfectly well, there is quite a cliffhanger at the end which is unusual for Lackberg. I'm not fond of cliffhangers like this, but am definitely glad that I have the next book in the series in my possession, so that I may continue on. I do highly recommend this entire series.
