The writing was EXCELLENT! What a great author. He really knows how to tell a story. A lot of names and info to keep up with though.

Significantly different from the movie, maybe 2%-5% the same at best. The basic idea is close, but other than that, this is a completely different story. Three of the characters in the movie have the same names as the book. Of those, one is someone completely different while Jason and Marie are in a similar basic role with completely different backstories and motivations. The book is far more complex in storyline and character development than the movie. The are lots of significant names and places to remember, which did cause me some trouble since I was listening to the book and have a hard time remembering names on occasion. Well worth the read.

Seeing bits and pieces of this on TV, I decided I'd like to read the story before seeing the movies (always a good rule). I'm halfway through and find that it is definitely different from what little I know of the films.

I also find the dialogue a bit contrived, stuffy, maybe even unrealistic? But it is action-packed--perfect for summer reading.

I read this a few months ago after having it on my shelf for a decade, LOL. Its amazing how little the film had in common with the source novel. I enjoyed the story (my first Ludlum novel), but I'm not particularly fond of Ludlum's writing style.

I love this book. I have read it twice before, I think. Yeah, some of Ludlum's naming conventions are a bit repetitive ("the son of the shepherd boy" and names like that are used too frequently), but a lot of this book is exceptionally good. The female lead isn't a dope. The evolution of how Bourne is referred to in dialogue tags: from "the man" to "J. Bourne" when he only knew part of his name to "Jason Bourne".... It is an exceptionally compelling story.

This was such cringey writing and a terrible portrayal of women. Just watch Matt Damon it’s less bad.

I must have been all of fifteen when I first read the series. Now with all the movies coming out to rave reviews (although I doubt many people know they are based on books, much less on whose books), I've decided it was a good time to reread them.

Apparently, I've forgotten quite a bit. This was a good read, covering all 3 movies (more or less).
