Very different than the movie, but VERY good. I loved it for being different.
Not sure what my deal with genre fiction is lately, but I'm liking the mystery. This was a fun read.
Had to put this one down. I got about halfway.
I don’t read spy novels very often, and this goes to show why. They’re too complicated for me with the multiple names and insinuations.
I’ll stick with the movie.

The story line wasn't as clean as in the movie although this meant the story had more depth. The female character was terrible and hard to accept without rolling my eyes. Still enjoyed it and I will read the next one but I hope the series improves a bit.
Well written, but rather boring. Perhaps it is that I've seen the movies so I know the story (contrary to what a lot of people here say, the core twist/reveal is the same in the books as movie, and reduces the tension of the novel a lot). Probably won't read any more of them, but I appreciate the novels for what they are.
The book and the movie are nothing alike. I think I liked the book a little more. Set in 1975 so less high-tech than the movie set in 2000s, so it was a little more believable. All around good story, can't wait to read Bourne Supremacy.
This reading experience illustrates precisely why I'm so pedantic about reading a book before seeing the film adaptation. The Bourne films are a joy to watch - they're engrossing, stylish and enjoyable action adventures. In comparison, this book felt extremely long winded and, well, dull. I feel this isn't a fair perception of the book and I'd like to know how I'd feel about it if I hadn't seen the films first, but unfortunately that's not possible. One thing that really irked me was the intensity of the central relationship given they'd known each other for such a short space of time. I just couldn't buy it. Sadly I won't be reading anymore of these books, but I might rewatch the films series.
Nie polubiłam się z historią Bourna. Nic osobistego, po prostu działo się tyle że odchodząc od książki gubiłam wątek. Ale szacunek za pomysł.
WHAT I LOVE ABOUT THIS BOOK:
- Fantastic setup of Bourne losing his memory
- The answer of who Bourne really is is much more complicated and interesting than you might expect; some great plot twists there
- The heroine, Marie, is so competent and awesome. (Bourne is also awesome, but that's secondary.)
WHAT I HATE ABOUT THIS BOOK:
- It's twice as long as it needs to be. Very slow, with not enough happening
- Bourne repeatedly disrespects Marie and disregards her opinions even tho she's always right
- The twists aren't nearly as interesting on a reread
