Disappointing. The first third of this book was excellent; engaging and thrilling. Then it got boring and a chore.

3.5. While the story itself is intriguing, it became very muddy with a lot of, IMO, extra writing that felt like reaching. There are tons of Robert Ludlum fans and I'm sure writing style is part of it; unfortunately, it turned me off. Scott Brick did partially save it with the audiobook. One of the few times I can say, with absolute certainty, that I liked the movie better.

Unfortunately I just didnt enjoy this novel. The premise behind the story was good - an amnesiac who suddenly finds himself fighting for his life with no memory of who he is or why he's being hunted.

However, there were a few things I just couldn't get on with:

1) The book felt unnecessarily long. It would have been better if it were a couple of hundred pages shorter.
2) The unbelievable love story between Bourne and a woman who he had kidnapped and held at gunpoint that became frankly sickeningly sweet at certain points.
3) The constant repetition of phrases got really irritating, really quickly.

Overall, 2 stars from me.

totally fascinating and intriguing. In a way it made me like the movie even more because it captured the tone of the book without getting bogged down in the sequels. I enjoyed the book and the movie each in their own ways.

This book was my introduction to spy novels and its still the best I've read in that area. Incredibly detailed and full of suspense. My favorite spy and one of my favorite villains rolled in to one in to exhilarating package with fast pace action. If you like an authentic touch in what you read you'll love this! Must note that the movie is completely different from the book. In my opinion the book is a much better experience.

I had to look at the front cover to make sure I had the right book. The story in the book is different than the movie. I loved the movies, I really like this book, though it was difficult because the character of Jason Bourne in the movie is much more machine-like and sure of himself than the book's Jason Bourne. If you like other Robert Ludlum books, you will like this one.

Having watched the first three movies is making the books a challenge to read (having a general idea of how the plot will pan out always frustrates me) but it is also making the book so much more enjoyable as its completed. The reverse feeling of hating a movie because it butchered the book!

I enjoyed the story. But did not appreciate the language.
