So I started Losers and read about this Halloween night that started all the events of the book, so I had to go back and read the prequel novella, The Dare, to see what actually happened.

~MILD SPOILERS~
The Dare takes place at a Halloween party the year after high school graduation. It's the ultimate reunion of all the different high school cliques: the jocks, the cheerleaders and most of all, the freaks.
Jessica Martin has always been the queen bee of her cheerleading squad, dating the hottest football player and enjoying an all around good life. In order to maintain her status, she does not hesitate to relentlessly bully those she considers beneath her, even if she thinks one of them is kinda hot.
Manson Reed had been running with the freaks of the school for years, until he got suspended over threatening the football captain with a knife. Now he's back at the reunion party and out for revenge on Jessica bloody Martin.
~Thoughts~
I keep going back and forth with my feelings on this short prequel novella to 'Losers'.
The infamous dare is basically the result of an escalated drinking game and the assumption that Jessica does not want to be considered a quitter, so she rather agrees to become Manson's slave for the length of the party rather than walk away with dignity. Manson only happily takes this offer if it means to payback Jessica for all the humiliation he and his fellow 'Loser' friends had to endure under her.
So naturally, there is a lot of degrading pictured which happens to be a huge turn on for Jessica, finally being able to give into her more baser desires. The story definitely became more interesting once we left the party behind and focused on the more carnal aspects of the dare.
