Holy moly, this book had my mind reeling!! The writing was so spooky, so atmospheric. Don’t read this book at night 🤣 my dog scared the daylights out of me when I saw light reflecting off his eyes when he was standing next to the bed 🤣

I think this would make a great horror film

Waywardathon: Bug (Book by an Indigenous Author), Scarecrow (Book that gives you creepy feels)

I liked many parts but after all the
women murdering, one after another
just became a little too much for me

I really enjoyed the writing so I will be picking up more of Stephen Graham Jones’s work in the future but there were just some details about this book that didn’t work for me. First, and probably the most petty, is there is soooo much talk about basketball in this book. A little too much for my taste. Second, some of the coincidences are a little too neat for me. Lastly, the third and final part of the book loses a little momentum for me and kinda feels like it’s dragging. We readers already know what’s going on from events in part two so a lot of part three feels like a recap as the other characters are filled in on events. Overall, pretty solid.

Good horror but the gore got to me and I couldn’t finish.
