This book is so interesting but it's also a huge bummer. Because people are awful. Still worth a read, though, because the context of how we got from rabbis arguing over the old testament to Black Mirror is intriguing.

This was the first book I’ve read by this author—and probably the last.
I get that I’m not the target reader here because I don’t enjoy books about politics, but this felt more like the author sharing his personal opinions with some factual background. I was hoping for a book that would educate me by presenting only facts and questions, but instead I got a lot of the author’s viewpoints and stories that felt only loosely connected to the chapter topics. There were a few interesting parts, but much of it felt like basic knowledge dressed up with a ‘wow’ effect.
Nothing against the author—it’s just not the right book for me.
