Audible version.
I really wanted to love this book. Football player (in the closet) - physician (out and proud). Lots of potential.
My issues: jock was extremely immature, naive, and a bit of a homophobe. The doctor was naive and did things that were uncharacteristic of someone who was out and proud.
The narrator - he was mostly good however the voice he used for the physician was more effeminate than it needed to be.

Another case of Why did I wait so long to read this book? Wow!! This was one hell of a story, so much more than just the story of an in-the-closet jock falling for the super-hot doc who tutors him. The entire situation with Clark's family is so frustrating and heartbreaking and I wanted to slap Nikki!!! Lil was the perfect best friend for Jody, that sassy voice of reason.

I really wanted to enjoy this more than I did. I've read the series out of order, I started with 2, read 3, and then 1. Can't wait for 4! I really liked Clark and Jody in books 2 and 3. But they seriously got on my nerves in this one. I still enjoyed their relationship but it was so irksome! Clark being in the closet and burying his head in the sand when it was convenient for him. Josy being upset but not saying anything because Clark cried so obviously his feelings aren't important. Clark's parents were horrible. Hated at the end that suddenly a stroke makes all forgiven. Interesting to see a pre-Grier Lil, so different! Long story short, enjoyable moments are met by equally annoying moments.
