It's fun, but I had already watched the movie from Kenneth Branagh so I already knew all the plot points.

Maybe this is just a skill issue, but I had some problems with remembering the characters in the book. There are so many of them.

It was entertaining and surprisingly breezy for a book with so many murders. Agatha Christie is a classic for a reason. That being said, the writing is definitely distinctly of a time and place (including some racist undertones in the discussion of the Egyptians)and the plot complications feel contrived rather than natural.

This was a book club pick.

Re-reading some classics and Agatha Christie is a master of mystery and intrigue. Always would recommend her if in the mood for a good detective plot.

Simply a perfect mystery. You are given enough to solve it, but there are enough moving parts to keep it interesting. I guessed the solution early but could not figure out how they pulled it off.

Too much like Oriental Express, but I actually liked it better, probably because Poirot wanders around and pontificates less.
Christie is not at her best with guns and it shows in this novel. Poirot just lets criminals go free and knowingly allows a killer to claim 2 more. Insta-love on two occasions. The only happy ending here is that Cornelia chooses wisely.
