i enjoyed this book, the characters were super cute and sweet to follow.  the story had a good mix of romance and the issues with the fmc’s ex.  my main issue was the poor communication happening, especially with the fmc.  i know she was in a difficult situation but it’s hard to not get frustrated when knowing that an honest conversation with the mmc could really help.  i definitely liked the first book in this series more than this one but i still enjoyed this one.  i loved the little glimpses into the characters from book 1 and thought their dynamic with the main characters in this book was super fun and sweet.  overall i had a good time reading this book!

4.5 out of 5

"Because life is short, Ryan. Life is beautiful and short, and you only get one. Live it on purpose."

Loved their story so much. Tess comes from an abusive relationship to Florida to find herself and ends up realizing she is her own home. Ryan proves to her over and over again that she can be his one and only choice, no matter how stacked the odds are against them.

Reverse age gap (33F/22M)

I liked this book but didn't love it. I definitely liked the predecessor more - and it had a bigger cast of characters (reverse harem, why choose etc) and a more complicated plot.

What I really liked: (1) the representation & diversity of the characters. It's just nice to see really rich characters with disabilities, preferences and inclinations - it provides many layers & texture to the story. It wasn't really overdone, so you could focus on what they were dealing with. (2) Tough topic of abuse & domestic violence - thought it was handled pretty well and just the juxtaposition of a strong, smart & capable character, like Tess, being subject to this. It could pretty much happen to anyone. (3) I loved Langley's openness to experiment & explore - emotionally & sexually. God knows, I learnt a bunch from those scenes....

What I struggled with: (1) The plot lines were sometimes all over the place. There was just a lot going on and I felt it distracted a bit from the Tess & Langley story.

Overall, good read - some parts dragged for me & I found myself skimming - but it's fun & would recommend.

I can be convinced to read almost anything if I can get it for free from my local library and I've seen my dear friend talk about Emily Rath so many times so when I asked her about Pucking Wild and she said it's important to her, I got on the list at my library. A couple of days later I was reading what I think is my first sports romance (I have never and will never care about sports).

Pucking Wild as an introduction to Emily Rath and sports romance made a strong first impression. I was initially interested to read it because it has a bi, plus sized FMC (hi, it's me) and it really delivered on that front. Tess isa breath of fresh air because she's confident and not insecure about her size. There is absolutely a need to stories with characters who aren't always confident but I wanted something more and that delivered. I also enjoy seeing a bisexual woman in a relationship with a man and not have her validity in question because of it.

Speaking of the man in question, Ryan is precious and a little younger than Tess and seeing him come into his own and learn about himself was genuinely a great time. Real golden retriever energy. I felt like we got to know him as much as we got to know Tess.

The plot was NOT what I expected (I never read the synopsis) and Tess was going through a divorce that had me texting LauraLee asking if someone could commit acts against her ex husband. The stakes felt high throughout and there's a lot of tension that makes this longer romance read really quickly.

There were a couple of things that kept this from being five stars - sometimes characters would be having important conversations and then go on some tangent about something else that went on too long and sometimes they were having sex when I thought they should be talking - but other than that, this is a good time even with the stress of Tess' ex and I can see myself eventually reading the rest of the series if my library has it!
