En svag 3,5.
Man kan typen nu: trött, desillusionerad polis, brott av knäppgök med väl skruvat motiv. Lite gubbigt. Polisens sidekick är den som mest väcker läsarens nyfikenhet. Vilka befogenheter har han egentligen, hur har han fått sina speciella kunskaper? Kanske får jag svar i nästa del, för boken var tillräckligt bra för att man ska vilja fortsätta.

This was pretty good, the Scandinavian mysteries really have a certain feel to them. This isn't as good as some Lars Kepler (my fav), or The Chestnut Man, but a mystery where we follow the police was pretty good. I figured out the mystery fairly quickly, but I like multiple perspectives.

I'm going to read the next in the series to see if some things get smoothed out, as we already know about the police characters.

Solid European crime thriller. I have yet to be dissatisfied with the works I've read from various European authors over the last few years. I listened to this in part in audible and the narrator I thought did a fantastic job. The protagonist is a legitimately frustrating anti-hero, and I felt like Assad stole the show as a secretly competent side kick (who could have been the lead). The threads that Carl and Assad follow are genuinely intriguing and not like most American crime proedurals, where it is glaringly obvious where the story is going. Great read!
