oh the ending

I enjoyed this one better than the first book. Still lots of cringy "romantic" talk, but still never risqué. Hope another book is written in the series!

Okay listen…
I liked the first one BUT I loved the second one.

Lots of family/relationship drama in this one. I just finished because I have to review the third one…

This book is exactly why I read all the way to the end because I was struggling through the whole thing. Till about 70% in when the dragons came in and then the going got good, and the ending made me want to read the next one but I really had to dig to get through this one. Maybe it's just the middle book thing where it's a filler.... because I feel like ... You could read the first couple chapters skip to the last few and not miss anything. Because all they did was travel and try not to caught by his dad or miss dragon lady.

Wow. This has been one of the best audiobooks I have ever listened to.

I didn’t have a lot of expectations going into this because I legit hear no one talk about it ever.

I don’t want to say to much and spoil anything, but throughout the first two books we get enemies to lovers, war, cool magic system, side character development, non active and active gods, prophecy fulfillment/breaking, and legit so much more.

It is also such a good middle ground on the spice level. Like you get spice for sure, but it doesn’t go into a ton of unnecessary detail. Same with the battle and torture scenes it is the perfect amount.

Also found out the audiobook narrators are married in real life which just makes the whole thing better. I’m obsessed.

Without spoiling the cliffhanger and plottwist this book ended on had me screaming while I was cleaning my house and jaw dropped. It completely caught me off guard which is why I’m giving this a five stars. There were some slow parts, so I would say about a 4.7, but totally deserves the round up.

This book picks up where we last left off and dive more into Layala/Thane’s relationship. It’s still a slow paced book (to me), but the plot regarding the black mage moves forward and questions are getting answered about Layala’s path forward in the series. A new MMC is introduced at the end, setting up the third book.

I did feel slightly disappointed in this book, mostly hoping for the black mage to be revealed sooner and I need to slow my roll. I understand that the next installment is where that character will be developed, I’m impacient. Did I expect who the black mage really is? Not at ALL. The cliffhanger left me confused, but I have a good feeling about the next book and this character.
