Listened to the first part almost a year apart from when I finished it. But overall I really enjoy the plot of this story and the characters have so much depth. I did not expect the ending and honestly I kinda feel like it came out of left field. It kinda left me wondering what would possibly go in the 3rd book that doesn’t feel connected to the first two books. But will probably listen to it because I also do enjoy the voice actors.

idk if it’s maybe the female narrator but despite this book having a pretty interesting plot and VERY cool ending, the series is not hooking me as much as i feel like it should.
about halfway through i considered quitting but! the ending got me, so ill def be reading the next book

I spaced out a few times while listening and had to backtrack. Not sure if that was on me for my mind wandering or if it had to do with the pacing being a bit slow at times. The cliffhanger at the end has me worried for where book 3 is headed. Laya and Thane spent two books falling in love; I’m not excited about the prospect of a love triangle due to reincarnation/past lives lore.

Just didn't get any better than the first book

OMG I LOVED IT. When I read Bow Before the Elf Queen, I liked it. It was a solid and cute fantasy romance. I pre-ordered the sequel Long Live the Elf Queen and it was downloaded automatically on my Kindle upon release. I put off reading it for a couple of weeks because I wasn’t super enthusiastic about the first book and I had other books on my TBR that I preferred reading earlier. Imagine my surprise when I started reading this book and it in no way suffered from sophomore syndrome. On the contrary. Much like a Court of Mist and Fury, the second book was way better than the first!
The pacing was perfect, the character interactions were a joy to read, the love story was intriguing (fated mates, anyone?). So many things happened that were cool and fun and exciting and nailbiting and mesmerizing and fantastical. I LOVED IT.
What is more, the romance between Thane and Layala is what drove it for me in the first book, and although I still live for it, the action and adventure in this book drove home it for me in the sequel. The side characters were interesting but could be more developed.
My four stars rather than five is more intuitive than anything else. I’m writing this review fresh off of finishing the book, thus I might edit it as my thoughts develop when I allow it more time. So although I give it four stars, I can’t really name any negative points from the top of my head right now aside from the fact that I encountered quite a few grammar mistakes. They are small mistakes that most people will probably not even notice, but as an English language teacher, I can’t help but notice them. Because they are the kind of mistakes that one could easily let slide (I mean, who needs a present perfect anyway? Don’t tell my students I said that), they weren’t really annoying.

All in all, I can summarize my opinion of this book in three words. WHAT AN ADVENTURE!
