I support women's rights, but more importantly, women's wrongs.
I really loved this! And I was really surprised that this book that took entirely during the COVID lockdown didn't bother me the way reading other books set during COVID were.
The premise of the book is accurate and sells it - 4 different women kill their abusive husbands, and then work together to dispose of the bodies. It is funny, and I'm very satisfied with how it progressed and ended (
I even was pleased when the small twist at the end with Edwina happened because I had a feeling that her husband was under the tree and I loved it!
).
Highly recommend, especially if you love dark comedy and abusers getting what comes to them, and women banding together.

This was darker and not as funny as I expected it to be - the theme of domestic violence is heavy throughout the story. There were some moments that seemed pretty far-fetched and not quite believable but overall I enjoyed it.

Based on actual research about domestic abuse during the Covid-19 Lockdown this novel has a very dark topic at its base. Still the author manages to write a dark/satiric comedy that had me grinning, chuckling and at times laughing out loud.

This is a story about strong women embracing their lot in life and seeking a better future. It is also about murder, and how to - hopefully - get away with it.

The author's note goes into some detail about her non-fictional research during lockdown and relates it to the story of the book.

If you liked Dahl's "Lamb to the Slaughter" or Parini Shroff's "The Bandit Queens" you'll like this story set in a not too big English town during the hard Lockdown of Spring 2020.

It started out interesting, then became kind of a mess with so many different characters in the same situation. Bizarre.
