I lost momentum and didn't feel invested in the story. Maybe I'll try again later

Not really a good read for me, but I didn't like Jurassic Park either and this is very similar, just without the dinosaurs. It did get better near the end, but I almost DNFed it.
This was like an adult Magic School Bus trip or a horror version of Honey I Shrunk the Kids. I didn't feel like it had enough of a Michael Crichton feel to it. I'm not sure how much was actually written by him, if any. But, the story telling was pretty bland and typical. I couldn't believe how many times the author used "said" in a row. I think I counted six or seven times the phrase, he/she said was used. It was horrible. It was an interesting idea, but fairly unoriginal. I'm glad I read it, but still disappointed by what we're left with from Crichton.
Pretty repetitive, but it was still a fun read and I enjoyed the action. I do think more people should have lived though
