This has been an enjoyable story so far! I’m so happy that there are more stories depicting queer and especially trans experiences. I love the cast of characters in this story. They are all so fun and we get to see different levels of self-acceptance. I appreciate how a few characters subvert societal expectations. Some of the relationships in this story are so sweet and caring, I was sobbing.

It’s really cool that this story sets up a tangible conflict (ie. there is a big bad), but then there is also deeper emotional conflicts happening within some of these characters. I’m looking forward to seeing how it goes for these characters. I’m nervous for, but excited to see how Max navigates these new challenging experiences. I’m rooting for him!

This is definitely the first time I’ve read something like this, and I love seeing how Max is coping with coming out and being magical. I’m so excited to see how it ends in the next volume!

This was an enjoyable read. I loved the art style and the dialogue was funny and had me laughing out loud at times. The storyline was good, it was a little trope-y at times like with the closeted bully, but was fun and a good spin on the "magical girl" storyline. I did like how they blurred the characters deadname in the dialogue in the print version compared to the online one (I read the first chapter online before deciding to buy the physical copies). I'm excited to see how it wraps up in the next volume.

i think this book is really solid! the dialogue is a little stilted at times and it can be hard to keep up with the plot, but for a novel that was originally a webcomic, i think it translates really well. max's internal conflict and transition are written really realistically and compellingly. i think his relationships with his friends are the most important part of this story, which means it gets knocked down a bit since they really only assemble at the end. luckily that just means volume 2 will be even better!

This was so cute! It is rough seeing Max get misgendered and deadnamed so much but unfortunately it is pretty realistic (source: I am trans and have been alive) and I’m glad the author didn’t shy away from that. It also makes it so much more cathartic when Max gets support and validation from his friends, and
when he finally gets a magical boy outfit that is masculine.
I just hope he meets other trans people in the second volume. being the only trans person you know is fucking hard! also i realized i have the same haircut as him lmao
