Astoundingly influential, vivid and well paced.
But I found it hard to focus on all the efforts to champion humanity and resilience in the face of seemingly unstoppable, impossible odds when the implied solution is…MORE colonialism (reinforced by a disturbing implication in chapter one that Aboriginal people living on so-called Tasmania weren’t human)

As solid and enjoyable as the first time I read it. I don't think anything went overhead on my first read, but I did find it scarier when I was younger. Now, I picked up more on the clear respect the main character has for the Martians and the nuances of his describing them in ways that make them sound beautiful and might.

I would not recommend the auto narration version of this book through Google books. That was the only downfall of how I chose to read this book. For many of their auto narrated classics, it has been smooth sailing. This one just doesn't do very well by it.

interesting story though the feeling of the narrative was possibly too consistent, causing for very little to stand out unless i all ready had an interest in the subject (disease, metaphors abt colonialism, etc). knowing that it is about turning englands imperialism against it made me like it more. i think the thing abt the radio play is funny. absolutely no interest in writing a paper about it and yet i must.
