Interesting
This was the first book I had read by this author and I really enjoyed it, very different from anything I have read lately I just fancied something a trifle dark while still having an emotional element to it, this ticked all the boxes loved all the different characters Vivian, Gabe, Lindsay and Anton and loved the ending really great read.. looking forward too reading broken dolls and finding out more about Brian next.

I will start off saying that this is not a romance novel. If you've never read anything from this author, she writes some really dark stories. They are the type of stories you will either enjoy or you won't. When I read other people's reviews of this author, they either love her writing or think she's nuts, I don't think I've ever seen anyone say she is just okay. She does push a lot of boundaries, that's what I love about her work.
This story starts with a married couple who are going through the motions of marriage. The husband makes a ton of money and the wife stays home, gets manicures and reads fashion magazines. She does take care of the house and cooks only because "maids are nosey". Sex has become a part of the relationship that is something to check off the to-do list.
The book opens to a very poor sex scene, where the wife, Vivian, is counting the seconds for her husband, Michael, to finish and leave her alone. I'm sure there are many marriages in real life like this one. Michael and Vivian have a fight and he decides she needs to see a therapist, Dr. Lindsay Smith. He pretty much forces her to go to the sex therapist.
Well, Dr. Lindsay Smith is a male and this makes Vivian extremely uncomfortable. He recommends that she get a massage to relax her and make her more comfortable in her own body. This is where things take a twisted turn. Through a series of blackmail, the massage therapist, Anton, starts to do more and more with Vivian where she is getting happy endings with her massages. But it won't end there.
This story is filled with hot men, some intense sex scenes and BDSM. Ms Thomas pushes the envelope on many things with this book. There is coercion, kidnapping and Vivian is blackmailed into doing things that she wouldn't have done on her own. If you like dark stories with a Master/slave relationship, this is a great book for you.
**Book was provided to me by the author. This review is my opinion and was not requested or provoked in anyway by the author.

Oh I would have to say that I have found a new author that I absolutely love. She has a dark and twisted way of thinking. (well, of writing) and I LOVE IT!
I was reading this and couldn't wait to see where things went. I wanted to know what was going to happen. I was excited! This story is not like any others that I have read, that alone made me very happy!
Hell anything I read by Kitty Thomas is different then my normal reads!
This is a different book with a different twist. A twist that I was so excited about!
I would have to say that for me this was a good one! I am so glad I read it. I do have to say that there is only one thing that I don't like about her writing. It is always too short. I always am left wanting more from her, more of the story. I want to get more more more.
Her writing will make you wonder where it's going, you try to figure out what she is thinking and where it is going. Sometimes you can figure it out sometimes not so much. Either way I enjoy her writing very much, and I enjoy looking forward to more of her stories!

I find that I'm having a hard time expressing what to say about Guilty Pleasures. It would be easy to pass judgment or to scoff at the content and plot. It would be easy to cling to cliches and call the story sick and twisted. It would be natural to feel outraged at the absurdity of situation the protagonist finds herself tangled in. And I believe most would feel completely repulsed by idea of considering rape anything but a violation, blurred lines be damned.
On the outside, Vivian Delaney lives a perfect life with a gorgeous husband who loves and wants her. But Vivian is not your typical desperate housewife choosing to entertain herself with her own devices while her husband works to support their lavish lifestyle. On the inside, Vivian feels like an empty shell, like a burden. She is withdrawn and inhibited. Unable to love herself, she doesn't understand what her husband finds appealing about her.
As arguments with her husband become more heated, he demands she meet with a sex therapist. Soon after and without her consent, Vivian is forced to submit to the commands of a very sexually charged man, Anton, who awakens her deep rooted desires. Frightened yet enticed, Vivian is thrust into a world she could never imagine, and suddenly discovers herself becoming a willing participant in a house run by a ring of men that train and sell women as sex slaves.
Circumspectly yet provocatively, Kitty Thomas once again draws in readers to not only explore raw human emotion but to also experience a descent into a illicit darkness that simulates the senses as much as it repels the mind. Thomas's character development of Vivian was fascinating, and it was maddening to realize that I found myself encouraging Vivian to release repressed passions and yearnings.
There was some predictability in the end. It was easy enough to guess who would buy Vivian to become her new Master, and I didn't care for the "grand scheme" planning of the husband and his friends. Still, I dare to say, I enjoyed the story as a dark fantasy novel and marveled over the writing style.
Word of caution, for those that do read D/s fiction, please note that Vivian was not trained to or given the option of using safe words.

I would give it about 2.5 stars. I was expecting to really like this one especially after reading 'Comfort Food' but, I found the whole story a bit strange. It was however, a very well written book.
No stars ...
If the only man I ever slept with which happens to be my husband ever arranged for me to be fucked by other men & made me a slave calling him master & said it was love, then I would rather live rotting on the cold streets than in a mansion with him.
He didn't even tell her she can go if she wants, she's a prisoner.
I keep searching for books like fifty shades of grey, surrender to me, bottoms up or even wicked ties which is way better than this one. But all I find are those nauseating, sickening, books & sadly only after I'm half way there dreading ever buying such a book that I discover how horrible it is.
after reading that I might change my mind and actually give captive in the dark 2 stars. At least he saved her & set her free, eventually. Sometimes a small detail makes you forgive anything that ever happened but I didn't find that here. So sad..
