This was a little too cheezy/sappy for me.

A charming enough story, but for me, it was not as engaging as Curious or Library. Solid story about love, loss, and second chances.

I have loved Phaedra Patrick books since I picked my first one up a few years ago. This beautiful love story really tasks you with remembering to enjoy life and not get so caught up in schedules and have to's. It is also a tribute to letter writing which is becoming a lost art, especially in the time of email and e-cards. How many people take the time to send a card, note or something hand written instead of a quick facebook post or e-card? I remember writing letters to my mother from camp, nowadays many sleep away camps use email for kids to communicate with their parents, its sad and impersonal.

Mitchell is stuck in a rut, his girl friend has died and now he is raising their young daughter alone. He has moved to the city to be closer to work but his life is lacking passion. It revolves around schedules and plans. His current job is cutting the locks off of the bridges so the weight of them don't collapse the bridge, when he sees a young woman attach a lock and then fall into the water below. Not thinking he jumps in after to save her and this one "leap of faith" changes his life. He discovers she has been missing for almost a year and her sisters and mother have been missing her terribly. With the aid of his daughter, and a nosey reporter who wrote an article on his heroism his life is changed. He starts feeling again, remembering what it is like to live instead of exist. The reporter encourages people to write to him about their story with the bridges and he finds himself swarmed with letters telling moving stories about their lives and loves.

Beautifully written as usual this story reminds us all to not be so serious, to play, look up at the stars, and feel. Maybe this time of quarantine is our bridge, how are you going to change your life?

Mitchell Fisher cannot move fast enough. His city is beset with romance in the form of lovers, marriage mates and hopefuls are attaching padlocks to bridges. There are so many that if they are not removed en masse, they could weigh the bridge down,

Mitchell lost his chance at love when he lost his wife Anita. He is blessed, however, to have a delightful daughter, Poppy, who is nine years old. When his wife was alive, Mitchell was overwhelmed with bridge design work and spent way too much time away from her and Poppy. Now that Anita is gone, Mitchell strives to be the best father he can be by spending quality time with Poppy as much as possible.

One day one of the people attaching a padlock to a bridge caught his eye. It was a woman and before he knew it, she toppled off of the bridge. Mitchell jumped in and saved her life. This is when Mitchell's life took another turn.

As the story progresses in The Secrets of Love Story Bridge, letters and the writing of them become something that is part of the connection formed when Mitchell rescued the woman. This is because a woman, Liza, found Mitchell and let him know the missing woman was her sister. There were a few clues that made this more than possible. So the two of them do everything they can to find Liza's sister.

What a warm and wonderful story! I loved Mitchell, Poppy and Liza. Mitchell especially touched my heart. He was a broken man after the loss of his wife, and although it took him time to work on his feelings, it was more than rewarding for Mitchell to find something that would bring him true joy. With one of the bridges he works on is called Love Story Bridge, Mitchell may have just found his own. What a journey and what a book!

Many thanks to Park Row and to NetGalley for this ARC for review. This is my honest opinion.

This was a huge disappointment. The synopsis sounded great but it did not deliver. The dialog was horrible. I hated every character in the book. Kept reading as I thought it might get better but it never did. Finished it just for the sake of finishing it.

I wasn't sure I'd be interested in this story but I gave it a shot since I've enjoy all her other books so far. I'm so glad I did! Another great read. The story draws you in and once again leaves you feeling like you're catching up with old friends. If you're looking for a quick, feel-good read, her books are the way to go!

A sweet story. The timeline in it is a bit off and I would have liked a little more self actualization from the main character. However, if you ignore all that, it’s a sweet and simple (slightly predictable) story.
