Speak is about a girl named Melinda who is starting her freshman year and everyone hates her. We soon find out that she had called the police at a party she was at, and that's why everyone hates her now. The reader doesn't know why she called the police, but the story unfolds and we find out the real reasoning as to what happened at the party.
This book is on our book club list, and it's a book I'm hosting, so I had to read it before everyone else so I could get the questionnaires ready. I had never seen the movie or read the book before... all I knew was that it got tons of hype, basically everyone had read it, and it won tons of awards. So I was going into this book thinking it was going to be phenomenal. And it really was. It met pretty much all my expectations. The writing is beautiful. It's the kind of writing that just feels like poetry, even though it's not poetry at all. It's the kind of writing that makes you literally feel what the main character is feeling, like you can feel your own heart drop when she starts feeling emotional pain. And it's a great book about teenagers and how things in their life can affect them. It shows how cruel people really can be in high school. I really think it's a VERY accurate portrayal of high school. Laurie Halse Anderson did SUCH a good job with this book. Now after reading this book, and knowing that Kristen Stewart plays Melinda, I just think that's the perfect casting. I can't wait to see the movie when I get the chance.

Blah...blah....blah...oh I am sorry, what you were said? You are bored me to death! I know this book has amazing story about rape and sexually assaulted and how to get out of bad situations. But it is not best book for me.
