A fitting ending to a brilliant graphic novel.

East of West is a genre-bending, character-driven story about the apocalypse, and, as a whole, it works on every level. I imagine reading single issues could be confusing, but consumed as a collected edition it's unputdownable, beautiful, and magnificent.

A thrilling read.

It’s a beautiful set up for the series and manages to very quickly shove your expectations out of the way by skewing from western revenge SF to something deeper, stranger and richer

The genuine genius of this book - aside from the writing and the art - is that it manages to juggle so many threads, whilst never feeling like what similarly plotty books often get bogged down with: simply existing to move characters around. I’m thinking of the Netflix series Dark here, which at times felt like chess, manoeuvring multiple exhausting subplots into place so everything worked. You never get that here. It’s beautifully constructed

A hugely satisfying end to a hugely satisfying comic. I was so engrossed that I sadly forgot to see what happened to the pig….

What an amazing graphic novel! I’ve had this series on my radar for a while now, and the concept of the four horseman of the apocalypse in modern times with a multi nation America instantly grabbed me. The world building and history behind each of the seven nations felt fresh and not particularly done before. The overall arching story of the end times coming and different groups either trying to prevent or accelerate it, went in directions I didn’t expect and always kept me guessing. The artwork was stellar also which solidified this series and graphic novel as a definite 5/5 stars. I cannot wait to get into issues 16-30 in the next deluxe edition, which I can’t recommend enough.

Really enjoying this series as expected although I only gave this volume a 4/5 stars due to the somewhat increasing confusion surround people’s alliances and storylines. I loved reading Babylons sections with balloon and there philosophical discussions about the world and balloons clear manipulation as well. Characters back stories are now being revealed and previously thought as enemies are now allies, and vise versa. The great nation is probably my favourite nation in this near future dystopian America, and they definitely have the best characters with wolf and crow, excited to get to Year 3 when the volume is finally released this year and wrap up this great story.
