This was another book club pick for me. Reading this has convinced me that I definitely could enjoy modern romance but maybe this just wasn't the book to do it for me. I like happy endings, I'm a pushover when it comes to cheesy cliche tropes, and I'm a very easy crier (the letters at the end of this absolutely got me). So why didn't I love this? 

I think mainly it just didn't follow it's own rules well enough. Gus absolutely didn't commit to the genre swap which was a core part of the plot so it felt like everything else crumbled slightly outside of that.
