It’s always a heavy read with Jodi, but worth it! TW: SA, miscarriage, abortion

Certainly made me think about abortion laws and rights alongside pro life and pro choice campaigners. The attack on the abortion centre and the relationships between the victims, the shooter and the detective felt like a sensational vehicle for taking the argument to the reader. The book was written to go through the day backwards leading to the point in the morning when the gunman decided to take this action which was at times confusing but the twist this revealed worked well.

A heartbreaking story that sadly happens in the US too often. I appreciated the diversity of characters as well as the realistic nature of characters.

This was another well written, thought provoking read from Jodi Picoult.

She certainly has a way of bringing tough issues to the forefront. I loved the style that it is written in. It is a timeline of events that goes backward.

It is an awesome book and my thanks goes to Netgalley and Ballentine books for this advanced readers copy.

This was my first Jodi Picoult read, and it did not disappoint! Jodi writes from all perspectives without persuading you to feel one way or another about the challenging topics the book contains. It was educational as well.

Different writing style, author worked backwards in time throughout the book. In some places I had a hard time following. Everything concluded with a surprise the last chapter.

The writing of this was so good. And the story and the way it developed was both enlightening and kept me wanting to read. However as a furiously pro life woman it was difficult to read especially when I realized the pro choice agenda being pushed forth by the author. I completely agree women’s rights are not black and white. However human rights are black and white.

Type of Read: Commuter (listened to on the way to and from work).

What made me pick it up: Picoult has always been one of my favorite authors.

Overall rating: I absolutely loved this book! I laughed, I cried, I cringed. This book made my heart hurt and made me feel like I was side by side with the characters. I will say, it took me a little bit to get into the format of the book and the way it flowed but after I got in a groove it was alright. There was some repetition but it made sense with the story so I wasn't bothered by that.
