Nice story. I like tales about the Norse gods and Neil Gaiman has a way with words so even this short story was fun and he has his own spin on things wich I like :)
به واسطه نام نویسنده کتاب رو خریدم و خوندم . کتاب خوبی بود ولی نه برای من . شاید برای یک کودک 8-9 ساله . !
3.5 stars
Very short but would be easy reading for kids as low as third grade (and exceptional second graders) to read for those that have an interest in Norse mythology. I felt the middle and the end weren't as thought out and were rushed but it was a nice short story.

A gift from my daughter - because she knows that I am a Gaiman fan. As I stated before I do not LOVE all of his books, but I am a fan of his imagination and I thoroughly enjoy his books that are illustrated by Chris Riddell.
I do enjoy Norse mythology and this book is based on that mythology. Odd is a Viking boy with a physical impairment who soon finds his life changed when he helps three animals, a bear, and eagle and a fox. These animals turn out to be Norse gods who have been transformed and it is up to Odd to help them.
Quite good. I do recommend this - with the illustrations especially!!

Charming little book. I wish there was more to it, but it is still entertaining and fun.
It was cute and enjoyable, but pretty forgettable. A standard Norse inspired story. If I had kids we would totally read it at bedtime though.
I love Gaiman's ability to create compelling myths. Odd is another novel by Gaiman that creates a simple, elegant story following the classic hero cycle. The characters are interesting. The setting is as much a part of the story as the people (and gods) who move throughout it. The resolution is absolutely beautiful. Highly recommended.
I first fell in love with Norse mythology when I was in middle school. After devouring as much Greek mythology as I could find, I found myself hungry for more stories and naturally turned to Norse mythology. I’ve been happy to see a bit of an uptick of popular interest in Norse mythology recently, no doubt due to the success of the Marvel Thor movies.
Whether you enjoy the actual mythology or the Hollywood Chris Hemsworth version, you’ll likely enjoy Gaiman’s story. Heck, even if you know nothing of Thor and the other Norse gods, you’ll likely enjoy the book. It is only around one hundred pages, and a quick read, but still very satisfying. True to most mythology, there are some morally complicated situations in Odd and the Frost Giants, but the book takes them in stride and refrains from passing judgment. Much of that is accomplished because Odd is a wonderfully cheerful character, despite all the hardships he passes through. It made for a refreshing twist on Norse mythology.
