This author is one I have known about for a while, as I have seen her books around, but it wasn't until a trust friend that talked me into reading this author, and so I decided on this duet. And as a plus its on kindle unlimited, I will say that even though I was drawn into the story, I found it a very interesting dynamic here. I did find It such a quick read but I wasn't fully invested in the story. I found it very compelling in many respects, but I also wasn't sure if I was on board or not through some of the story. It is actually a story I never imagined would play out the way that it did, and it was a very unique experience. Now is it my top read of the year? Naw its not. But its an intriguing journey of a read with lots of secrets and unknowns that you need to get to the second book to get....so typical me I jump right into book two with no reservations. So in some ways this author definitely worked for me.
I read this on paperback and listened to the audiobook.
Loved it!
I’m so glad I read Reina’s book before this one. Reina is so unlikeable which was the point…
Also because I read books after this duet I sort of know what’s going on but at the same time I don’t which is still fun.
I loved Naomi from the beginning and that didn’t change. Loved that she loved Anime and watches crime shows even when it scares her. Weirdly enough ( or not) I also love the facade she presents to the world which is also what I loved about Sebastian and what made him interesting to me.

Trigger Warning... OMG Dark and Twisted Yes Please
Strong Trigger Warning for this series. Consensual Rape and Violence Fantasy played out in series along with bullying. With that being said its a good storytelling of what Sebastian and Niamo discover with each other. Ends on a cliffhanger so be ready for part two

i don’t know. i expected more from naomi and sebastian after reading reina’s duology and they failed to give me that. i loved for reina and asher mentions and cameos. i didn’t see that connection between naomi and seb besides their physical attraction.
Ok, real talk. I had given up on Rina Kent. I didn’t even give this book a second thought when I heard it was being released. Like pretty much everyone else I was rocked by how good Aidan & Elsa’s books were. The rest of that series was ok but never reached the glory.
Then came all these trilogies and duets, most of them overlapping (including this one). I struggled with most of these. Why? Because a lot of just plain didn’t make sense. Some of them were beyond ridiculously unbelievable and downright nonsensical. I still couldn’t tell you why that is? Are they ghost written by different people? Is that why they are such a hot mess? Is that how a Rina Kent releases so heavily? Or does the fact that she releases so heavily cause her write books that don’t make sense and/or are nonsensically unbelievable?
I don’t know? It doesn’t matter really. It is what it is.
This book through me for a loop though. I debated on going with 4 stars because the whole bet thing is cliche and cast this childish pall over the scenario.
Honestly though, the bet wasn’t a big factor for Sebastian and he’s the driving force behind this book. You don’t come across Hs like him often. Despite the whole mean girl vibe with the dumb bet Sebastian’s motives felt completely unrelated.
This is good. Really good. So good I’m actually wary of reading the next book because I’m afraid it will retroactively ruin this or just be so disappointing it puts me in a book funk. Here’s to hoping for the best!
