This was my first Corinne Michaels book and I freaking loved it! It had so many tropes I love: single dad/nanny, grumpy/sunshine, law enforcement MMC, age gap. But, I loved the inclusion of a Deaf character and ASL! I'm weirdly obsessed with ASL (and I like learning about the Deaf/Hard-of-Hearing community) so it was awesome to see that in a book. Yes, I've seen it a few times before, but I feel like it's an underrated inclusion in books which makes me sad, but I was pleasantly surprised to find it in this book. Asher Whitlock was in a major bind when the nanny he hired for the summer, the only one who spoke ASL at the agency, quit. Luckily (or, unluckily as far as he was concerned) his boss's daughter, Phoebe, just returned from school where she was learning to be an audiologist and she spoke ASL fluently. Phoebe had made some mistakes in the past that Asher couldn't help but dwell on, so he was extremely against hiring her, but he had no other choice. Phoebe had just returned home after going through a traumatic event during grad school and was "asked" (read as: coerced) by her dad to be Asher's nanny for the summer. Since Asher was never anything but a grumpy jerk to Phoebe, she also was against the arrangement, but she really wanted to help Asher's daughter, Olivia, be able to communicate with someone without having to worry about them not knowing ASL. When they both realized how attracted they were to each other despite not really liking one another, they made an agreement that nothing could happen between them, ever, because they didn't want to ruin things for Olivia. Well, we all know how that went, right? But, Asher and Phoebe were actually really perfect for each other because they balanced each other out so well-which is usually the case in a grumpy/sunshine book (and why I adore them so freaking much). I loved the family dynamic the Whitlocks had with each other, and they brought Phoebe right into the fold when she became the nanny (and eventually something more). I also loved Asher's relationship with Olivia; he was an amazing dad and would fight the world for Olivia and her happiness. Phoebe and Olivia had an adorable relationship too; they were more like friends rather than nanny and kid. Phoebe was also willing to fight anyone for Olivia, and she did in many ways including yelling at a woman for being judgemental without knowing Olivia was deaf, and all the ways she fought to help Olivia using her audiology background. When something major happened with Phoebe, Asher stuck by her side through it all even when he didn't have to and I loved that he did! Even though he was grumpy, Asher was an amazing man and he and Phoebe were absolutely perfect for each other. I adored this book and I can't wait to see what Grady gets up to in his story!
Quotes I Loved:
"There is something about a grumpy asshole who melts at the sight of his daughter." -Phoebe (where's the lie?!)
"Grab the headboard and sit on my face. ...That's it, good girl, now don't just sit, sweetheart, suffocate me." -Asher (🥵🥵)
"Love doesn't come with conditions." -Asher
"You have me mystified. You had billions of stars to choose from, but you picked me out." "I think you chose me, sweetheart. I haven't moved, but you, you're a comet in the night. You found me when you flew across my dark sky." -Phoebe and Asher

Forbidden Hearts started good. I was so intrigue with Phoebe and Asher. The banter is cute, fun and light. When the relationship touched down on the romantic feeling, I lost my interest. The drama, the banter, the characters become way too cheese.
I am disappointed.
On the top of that, Miss Michaells putting so many unnecessary plot on the top of the drama. I honestly skimming the book toward the end. Some parts are so cheesy that I cringe. I expected more from Miss Michaels.

That was sooo good! First off… my favorite trope! Nanny, sexy older guy…. Ugh and Asher was everything … I just loved his character. The way Phoebes character was kind of like a hurricane of craziness and one thing after another, I felt like I could relate to her at some point in my past. And I REALLY loved the ASL inclusion. The references to Emmaline and cloverleigh farm had me thrown for a while because I KNEW I’d read about them before and couldn’t figure out why since I knew this was my first book by Corinne. Took me till the credits at the end when she thanked Melanie to realize why.
I tried to ignored the forced chemistry but no… plus the mfc is just so infantilized, i find it very gross

Cute spicy romance, fast paced and the drama was a little too much coincidence.
