This book was good !! & that little plot twist ?!
4 ⭐️s!
Really enjoyed this read! The single dad era lives on for me…
First of all, I loved how the co-parenting relationship was displayed. There was no harsh words, they joked, laughed, cared about each other and there were no hard feelings. I loved how she normalized healthy co-parenting.
Second, AUTHORS WHO REP THE DEAF COMMUNITY >>>
Liv was the freaking stinking cutest girl ever and man did she love big and hard. I loved her character so much and her bond with phoebe was everything to me.
Last but not least, Pheobe and Asher… the single dad/nanny, age gap, enemies to lovers was beautiful. I was so here for this relationship and how it developed.

Ughhhhh. The first 70% was hot, tense, fun, flirty. Like it was riding a solid 4-star level. And that’s even with me excusing some rather cheesy dialogue and kinda side-eye-y moments.
But then the PLOT TWIST. The freaking plot twist happened and it changed EVERYTHING. The entire dynamic of the book shifted!! And not for the better!! Gawddddd, it felt so forced! I was immediately disinterested. Nope. That was wholeheartedly unnecessary.
So basically I skim-read the last 30%. I am grumpy. And disappointed. And who approved this?! 😑😑😑
1.5 stars. Merp merp merpppp.

“Forbidden Hearts" by Corinne Michaels, the inaugural book in the Whitlock Family series, introduces readers to a captivating love story. Phoebe, a 24-year-old graduate student aspiring to be an audiologist, becomes the unexpected nanny for Olivia, the daughter of Asher, a grumpy 38-year-old cop and single dad.

I really wanted to love this but it was ok. It was cute. I really liked Phoebe’s relationship with Olivia, and the deaf community representation. I love me an older grumpy dad and nanny trope so that was delicious but I was annoyed and bored at times. I skimmed through a bit of it

Asher is the small town sheriff in need of a nanny for his deaf daughter. His boss suggests his daughter, Phoebe, who knows ASL and is home early from grad school. They try to resist each other as Phoebe is going back to school soon and she’s off limits for being the nanny and his boss’s daughter. Lines are crossed and eventually they can’t let each other go.
This was my first Corinne Michaels book and I loved it! We know I’m a sucker for a single dad/nanny trope and this one did not disappoint. I loved the deaf representation, definitely different from other books with children in them. I also loved the appearance of some characters from Melanie Harlow’s Cloverleigh Farms series! This book was full of fun surprises and was such a quick read for me! I can’t wait to read about the rest of the Whitlock siblings.

I just finished the audio of Forbidden Hearts and am trying to find a way to convey how much I loved it so I'll just go with - totally obsessed!
Asher is a small town cop and a single dad. Phoebe is returning home due to a scandal at college that she is keeping secret. While searching for a new college she needs a job and Asher needs a nanny. Since Phoebe knows ASL she is the perfect fit; even though the last time she babysat didn't go well.
This story just flowed amazingly. I loved the evolution of their relationship along with the way they interacted with Asher's daughter. I was so not ready for the big twist but then Asher swoops in couldn't be happier with how it turned out. Forbidden Hearts is such a good story - definitely recommend! Looking forward to more from this series!
Thank you to the author for the advanced audiobook copy. Narrators Zachary Webber & Desiree Ketchum were amazing as always!
