There were just so many reasons why I loved this book. Here are just a few...

-ASL/Deaf/HoH representation
-Grumpy/sunshine
-Single dad
-Secret romance
-Small town romance
-Comic relief paired with emotional substance
-Sugarloaf setting (and callbacks to other Corinne Michaels characters)

I am so excited to see where this series goes-- book 1 was an excellent start!

This is not my favorite Corinne Michaels romance wise (maybe because I just read a nanny romance), but I will say that I absolutely LOVED the ASL representation. It was written in such a normalized and realistic way that made me just fall for the main characters. I will definitely be continuing the series as Corinne knows how to balance emotion and lightheartedness in the best way.

Read if you like:

-Single dad
-Nanny/boss

wow this was one of the best single dad books that I've read in a while. like i ate that sh*t up!!!

wow Corinne really killed it with this one. now if you know me, single dad is my trope. and this one was fire. i loved it so freaking much. it had all of my favorite tropes, and it was such a swoony book to read. i laughed, cried, and felt so many emptions while reading this. phoebe & asher were such a perfect couple! the banter and tension between them that has been going on for YEARS made this book even better. we love a hot single dad who is so supportive of his daughter (who is the MOST precious) and even has a good relationship with her mom. I love how much he just wants that best for her, and how he is willing to do whatever it takes to make sure that she gets the best care possible. and the scene where she is nervous and he shows up even though he is not supposed to leave?! ugh that pulled at my heart strings. the fact that phoebe's dad was asher's boss made their who relationship even more forbidden. olivia was one of the most precious daughters of a single dad that I've read. I loved how much she trusted and loved phoebe. their relationship was perfection- and they had such a special bond that I have not read in other books before. I was so glad to read a book with ASL rep! Corinne killed it with this one. and the epilogue killed me with how good it was. i LOVED!!!!!!

I’ve read several of Corinne Michaels’s books over the years but Forbidden Hearts was on an entirely new level. It was filled with a number of my favorite tropes but what really endeared me to it and further brought me into the fan base of Miss Michaels was the use of No Third Act Breakup. I think it’s a rarity to find authors who can bring depth, emotion, and growth to their characters and their characters’ relationships without utilizing a breakup or miscommunication or finding some way to send them through hell for the sake of making them have a realization about how much they love each other.

This book is funny, spicy, romantic, but it’s also mature in a way many books lack. They don’t play games with each other, they don’t beat around the bush in communicating, they live a romance that glorifies healthy dynamics instead of the toxicity that is often found within the romance industry.
