Corinne Michaels knows how to write small town romance! Phoebe returns back home to Sugarloaf after a situation occurs at school and is planning her next move when Asher (& his adorable daughter, Olivia) are looking for a nanny proficient in ASL. While reluctant to accept the job at first, Phoebe quickly forms strong bonds with Olivia and she also begins to develop feelings for Asher. Phoebe and Asher’s history creates a fun enemies to lovers vibe. This was another amazing small-town romance novel by Corinne Michaels that was taken to the next level through the addition of the single dad / nanny trope! Definitely would recommend for anyone who enjoys small-town romances with tropes like age gap/single parent.

okay HOW was this my first corinne michaels book?!
this was so so good. i will always love the single dad/nanny trope and this was executed perfectly. the tension between asher and phoebe was incredible. i loved so many things about this story. a couple things that stood out for me were the mature and respectful coparenting with sara and asher, the deaf/ASL rep with olivia, and the end twist - and how asher was so protective and accepting of phoebe?! will remain on my knees for asher whitlock for all of eternity.
this was just so beautifully written and i devoured it. i need to read the entirety of corinne's backlist because this is one of my favorite reads this year.

This has so many of my favorite tropes: grumpy single dad who falls for the nanny, plus an age gap! I love the incorporation of the Deaf community. Asher (dad) and Phoebe (nanny) are a fun couple. The beginning has all the angst and forced proximity that I love! When Asher started to become a marshmallow, has Phoebe deemed him, I ate it all right up. Phoebe’s relationship with the daughter, Liv, was super cute. They become best friends, and she helps Liv through trouble with friends and others who don’t understand her lack of hearing. For me, it started to fall a little flat about the 65% mark - felt like a plateau. I wasn’t super excited a about the ending, but I loved the ride.

I absolutely loved this book! The spice, the story, the secret relationship… every dang thing! It’s an age gap, small town romance and I was here for it! I immediately preordered book 2 and it should be here tomorrow! With Chestnut Springs and The Eden’s coming to an end, I needed a new series to look forward to and I found it!

I liked the way this book didn’t just focus on the relationship between Asher and Phoebe, it painted a picture of the whole town and introduced you to everyone they came in contact with. It was like a sitcom, setting up storylines for other characters too. I like that, it makes it feel more real when every conversation in the whole book isn’t about the romance. I can’t wait to read the next in the Whitlock Series.
