no 3rd act breakup, however there was a surprise pregnancy, so really it’s a toss up

No 3rd break up act

Ugh!!!! I loved it! 5🌟😩
This women has yet to write a book I didn’t enjoy!
Like she must put drugs in these.
There all so good! I didn’t even know this was based in sugarloaf… but oh when Connor popped up I was happy!
It was a age gap, nanny/boss taboo! Perfect sprinkling of some serious stuff with his daughter being deaf! There relationship growth is lovely!
And Phoebe and Asher… ugh so cute! My gosh! The story even had a secret pregnancy and I still loved it so… that tells ya something!
10/10 would recommend this author not even just the book lol!

4.7/5 stars

Tropes:

- small town

- single Dad

- Grumpy/Sunshine

- Age gap (he’s 38, she’s 24)

- no third-act breakup! (Which just made the story THAT much better)

OH, MY LORD! Asher and Phoebe ABSOLUTELY stole my heart

How can I not LOVE a book which has all my favourite tropes!! This book was pure perfection and it came as such a surprise. I went in without reading the synopsis of the book and it made the book even more better for me.
Asher Whitlock is left with no option but to hire his boss's daughter- Phoebe as nanny for his daughter who has impaired hearing; because she's the only one in the town who knows ASL. Phoebe needs the money to pay for her grad school. But there's undeniable tension between the two, which makes it impossible for them to keep their hands off of each other.
That twist!!!! My God! My head was spinning and I felt like the earth under MY feet was pulled away. I did not see that coming, but the way Asher & Phoebe dealt with it was so damn adorable and made me heart melt.  I loved how pure and natural Olivia and Phoebe's connection was, it wasn't forced for the sake of the storyline. The ASL representation was beautifully done by the author and I was really fascinated by audiology major program that was taken up by Phoebe. That epilogue 🤌🏻🥹 so damn wholesome, I didn't want it to end.
emotional funny hopeful lighthearted fast-paced
Plot or Character Driven: Plot
Strong character development: Complicated
Loveable characters: Complicated
Diverse cast of characters: No

There are a lot of things I like about this book. The sunshine/grump trope was on point and very well written. The chemistry between the two MC's are amazing. I absolutely loved the healthy coparenting mentioned in the book and how Asher put Phoebe's wants and needs above his own.

What brings this book down for me is a spoiler so, you've been warned.

I find pregnancy tropes a ridiculous barrier or "obstacle" in relationships, there are so many other things that happen in life that could be used, and were used, like her going to college - should have just stuck with that.
lighthearted medium-paced

4.25⭐️

This book was absolutely amazing from start to finish. The grump/sunshine trope is done so good in this book as Asher doesn't trust anyone besides family and so when Phoebe is set to be a nanny for the summer he doesn't trust anything she does. The chemistry they have was also amazing. I loved Phoebe lots and she was so great with Olivia.
