This book had a strong start - the premise bringing these opposites together felt natural. I loved the first half, and would read another book by this author. Her small town characters felt real. But the ending - too many tropes. It felt like the author was trying to throw every cliché into the plot to see what would stick.
However, you can’t fight fate, no matter how forbidden your relationship is. The heart wants what it wants and often doesn’t lose.
Corinne Michaels is a relatively new author to me, having only recently read the Consolation Duet, which I loved. Once I saw the premise for Forbidden Hearts, I knew it was a must read fir me. I mean, a Single Dad x Nanny, Grumpy x Sunshine, Age Gap, Secret/Forbidden Relationship romance and all in a small town? A combination of some of my absolute favourite tropes, and they were done to perfection! Ugh, I love this book!

Someone I follow on Instagram recommended this book.. anyone that loves spicy romance needs to get a copy to the audiobook now. This is one of the books where you don’t want to put it down because you have to know how the story ends. A single dad hires a nanny to stay with his little girl while he’s working and he falls in love with her. She’s much younger than him, but as this story shows you can’t help who you fall in love with.
I could not get enough of Asher and Phoebe and I loved their story. Asher is a single dad in a tough spot when the nanny agency cannot provide a nanny that knows ASL for his daughter. He is left with Phoebe, his bosses daughter and does not trust her from a past babysitting incident. I love the way that Phoebe always challenges him and the relationship that she develops with Olivia. The tension between these two is high and as much as they try to resist each other they can’t. Their story was sweet, fun and full of banter.
Desiree Ketchum and Zachary Webber did an amazing job bringing this story and Phoebe and Asher to life. Desiree was great at portraying Phoebe’s sunshine personality but also her vulnerabilities and the hurt from her past. Zachary was the perfect grumpy single dad, but also brought out Asher’s caring and sarcastic personality. Both of their performances made me love the story even more.

Good!
I liked this one! Asher and Phoebe are one heck of a combination. The family dynamics are special. I do love the “who did this to you?” aspect because he did it in a loving way rather being incredibly gruff and condescending. Phoebe has a LOT going on.
I felt that some plot points didn’t add up or felt like a resolution was missing.
The last plot twist wasn’t my favorite but it was good to see our main man knew exactly what to do.
3/5 ⭐️ for me!
