if jumping to conclusions was a person:
anyways, I think that this book would literally make so much more sense if audrey rose was actually 14/15 instead of 18 because she acts like an impulsive and self-important child the entire novel.
many of the lines inside this book sounded cartoonish as well. when we finally learned who the murderer was, it turned into something out of a child's cartoon and the entire novel, thomas kept pissing me off because he was so stuck up for practically no reason. it was not attractive at all. each character had no depth and there was no consistency in how they acted from scene to scene.

I'm so obsessed with Cressworth that I went out and bought the next three before I even finished this one. Now I'm 100 pages in to the dracula one and I literally finished 1 this morning. Be careful starting this series.

There were many aspects of this novel that really appealed to me. I love time period novels and especially enjoyed the female character fighting the gender norms of her time. The mystery was well rounded, as were the characters. I was able to figure it out a bit before the end was revealed, but it was a fun mystery all the same. Will recommend.

This was dark, gory, scary and so much fun!
